When it rains it pours

Recommended Posts

Well, after ordering all my new equipment and waiting a month on the SP4's, amps, yada yada yada. The headgaskets blow in my truck....... I went ahead and spent a small fortune getting upgrades and making the motor pretty much bullet proof and throwing some serious power to it. Truck runs like a animal now....Should be around 430-450rwhp and 750+rwtq on the tune thats in there. Well I go 3 days and BOOM, transmission must not have liked the new found power and is now toast. The tow haul light was flashing and I tried to limp it to the shop and to get the solenoids checked and I heard a high pitched whine. Pulled over and smoke just starts rolling out from hood and trans fluid pouring out on pavement.

Had her towed to the shop that does my work and said what the hell, ordered a fully built comp trans and converter from Suncoast Transmissions in Florida. They are expensive as hell but are one of the best trans you can buy. This one has billet input shaft, billet internals, triple disk converter and is rated at over 700hp so hopefully no more worries.

As far as car audio, The truck will be down another 2 weeks then hopefully I can get back to my install. This is very discouraging but its making me really think everything over.

i wasam in the same boat.

It's called custom installation and you're the first to do it....

If you haven't researched anyone else doing what you are doing exactly then that's on you..

If you have and can't find anybody even remotely close to having done what you are doing now.. then expect the unexpected...

Next week, i will be attempting the THIRD suspension installation in my vehicle... Already lost close to $1k with no progress....

Even though you may have spontaneously spent several $k more than i have recently, your money is all going toward progress...

now, if you came back in here and said the new tranny blew up.. well, then i might have to drive down there in TN and go to the bar with you to cry it out, :)

Not sure what you mean, I've been modifying cars for along time. Just not a diesel mechanic

I try to research everything that is gonna cost alot, lol. This is one of the best upgrades possible

If you have and can't find anybody even remotely close to having done what you are doing now.. then expect the unexpected... I always expect that, thats just how my luck is

Next week, i will be attempting the THIRD suspension installation in my vehicle... Already lost close to $1k with no progress.... That really sucks man, what is your goal or what are you trying to do?

Even though you may have spontaneously spent several $k more than i have recently, your money is all going toward progress... Definitely progress. I am actually really stoked the truck will be a bad mofo when its done.

now, if you came back in here and said the new tranny blew up.. well, then i might have to drive down there in TN and go to the bar with you to cry it out, smile.pngIf the new trans blows then they should replace under warranty, that would suck though. No need for tears here, parts break and can be replaced, more money can be made. Its a viscous cycle, LOL. Come down for a beer anytime, matter of fact I will drink a few for ya tonight.

When reading Shizzon's post, you must really know who he is to get some of his humor :P

Six point oh's are prone to such failures, sadly. AFAIK the oil cooler is the first to go and then takes out everything. The more you ignore it, the worse it becomes, up to the point of a ruined block.

Get on dieselbombers.com and see what those people have to say.

Sorry to hear.

Heat is usually what kills the trans. What do you have for a trans cooler? That would be my next upgrade, especially with the new power and badass trans going in.
