Bought an aftermarket alternator from DC power, I put it in and the top OEM braket wold fit the new one. Will the alt be ok with just the bottom screws holding it in?

It might, but you run a risk of breaking stuff. You paid money for the right part that doesn't fit. Don't risk anything. Contact DC. Good Luck!

Then they obviously know nothing about serpentine belt drives, tension, or loading. Anyone can build parts, but only few can make them work together. There is a reason the manufacturer put a bracket there. Ask DC if they will put this in writing and if they will warranty any issues that arise because of it.

I am really dissapointed.

It may very well work fine. Knowing what i do about mechanics and simple common sense, I personally would not do it.

In some cases this might be ok but with everything that relies on that alternator I would not risk it at all. I mean you can run power through 8 gauge wire and put into an amp that takes 4 gauge but is it going to be the proper fit for the application.....No......

What size alternator did you get? is it something that could have been in the original casing style with upgraded parts or is it like a 350amp that may needed to be modded to fit?

Damn I bought a 250xp about 4 months ago and it's still in the box. Never even checked. I better go do that

I've installed a couple of their alternators and they both fit without much issue. I had to do a bit of bending and repositioning of some things because of the larger cases of the ho units but nothing major at all. What vehicle are you installing this in? Some good, detailed pics would be nice as well.

I installed the alt, I guess the top bracket is not really needed. There is no fitment issues. My SAX-1200D is so much happier now lol. The bass sounds so much better on some good electrical. I got thier 185 amp model for my ford expedition by the way.
