My first build. '00 Eclipse GT

Recommended Posts

This will be my first car audio system. Fi Q 12, 2.25ft^3 ported to 32hz.

All I have right now is my sub. Box is currently being built by TRP and a DD M2b amp is on the way.

First off my chariot... 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. Mods: Greddy Evo2 exhaust system, Injen cold air intake, Megan Racing short shifter with Greddy counter weight knob, Fidanza light weight flywheel, ES Polyurethane motor, trans, and shifter mounts, corner lights, tail lights, Mio C520 GPS, Escort X50 radar detector, and Sony CDX-GT740UI head unit.

Pics of my car are a little old but the only thing that has changed is a new front factory bumper with out the Mitsubishi sign, so you get the idea.

I will add more pics as soon as my box and amp arrives. Still need a new XS battery and wires for big 3, amp etc...

Been a while since I updated this. Box took a while getting here and I've been super busy lately. So still not installed but getting closer. TRP did a awesome job on the box! Great communication and packaged very well. Highly recommended to anyone looking to get a box built.

Box-2.25ft^3 ported to 32hz,sub up port rear, plexi viewing window, white interior, and white leds inside box.

Excuse the wiring mess in some of the pics. I was just testing it out real quick.

What should my LPF be at on my M2b? Around 100hz? I know SSF should be around 29hz but I'm not sure about LPF.

I don't believe anyone would consider the Q to be weak by any stretch of the imagination. It's a well proven quality performing driver. I have a pair on a Sundown 2k and they're absolutely amazing. Sure, others can get louder, but louder isn't always better. biggrin.png

80 to 100hz is typical. It's all dependent upon your installation, enclosure, vehicle, music and listening preferences. Just try it out and adjust until it sounds right to you. BTW if your HU has subwoofer preouts and it's own LPF then simply adjust the amp's LPF all the way up so it's out of the way and let the HU control it.

Yes my HU does have sub out and LPF. So set the LPF on my amp to 200hz which is max and HU LPF around 80 or 100 which ever sounds best.

Also when setting the SSF filter. Is there any way to know that it's at exactly 29hz.?

Looks good man, those LEDs are bright. Let me know once you get it all hooked up and playing and how it sounds.
