Can't really tell if it would be easier compared to only wood, but I know one three things for sure. It's going to be lighter, stronger and cheaper this way. Which I am all in for since the plan is have a somewhat lightweight car with a loud system, and later on, when I swap a more powerful engine, the system won't be a draw back.

 

The cage you guys see is removable, right now it's out of the car and I've started cutting the wood.

Those are the three things I need in my build. I think I built my wall pretty strong, but I would have been much happier with a weld over some polyurethane adhesive and screws/bolts.

Made a hole so I can access the fuel pump if something like, I don't know, a swap happens.


Added more steel bracing.


Added 45° , bigger on is where the port is.


Some rounding up.


The port is ready

I just went through the entire thread.  Coming along beautifully dude!

 

Even on low power I'm sure the enclosures do greatly improve the sound of those mids.

Roughly cut out the port with the jigsaw


Then I used the router to straighten everything up


Rounded over with a different bit for a nice air flow


These grooves are very narrow and several mm deep. When I go ahead and cover the whole thing, the fabric it will be cut and pushed inside the grooves for a nice, flush look.


Placed the subwoofer for the first time and predrilled the mounting holes. The strings are there to help me get it out as it's very hard to lift a 20kg sub when it is flush mounted on the box

Wired the subwoofer terminals from the outside. Copper ring terminal, pressed, soldered and heatshrink wrapped.


Pretty much done with the big trim panels.


Made the amp rack from wood, upholstered and attacked to the cage, then placed the amp. It's temporary place will be there until I get another amplifier for my front stage.

Let's say it's pretty effing loud
My head still hurts, but it was so worth it. That's what happens when I don't listen to bass for 3 months tho. I need a few more days to readjust.
