Question about amp

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used or heard about this amp. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23550_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ2400.1D.html

I'm pretty sure I'm buying it but want to see if any of you guys know anything about it. I have the big 3 and a yellow top under the hood and a fairly large stock alt so I should be good volt wise. Any help??

What's your budget? What subwoofer(s) do you have? Better options can be found.

What are your needs from an amplifier? Many times sacrificing power for quality will pay off in the long term.

i'm running 2 sa-15 in a 7cuft box. My budget is probably a max off 350 and i just figured the hifonics would be a decent amp because it is cea certified so i would be getting 2400 rms

If you don't mind used, you have several nice options with a budget of ~$350 or so. Crescendo BC2000, DC 2k, DD M2, SAZ1500-2000 are just a few that come to mind.

Right here at SSA in the classifieds section you'll find some.... DB-R has refurbished/repaired Sundown amplifiers

You don't need any where near that much power for those woofers. Yes, people do it, but they usually know what they are doing and have been doing it a while.

You only need around 1,500w to get full potential out of those 15"s in that size enclosure.

i know how to hook it all up and avoid clipping and all that junk and everyone one i've talked to including the dealer said they don't really start to get loud until around 1000 rms a piece so i'm going big.

not so... you can get loud on 500w... it's almost never a matter of power until you get to a certain level...

I would question the intelligence of the dealer, and everyone else you've talked to.

There's nothing magical about a subwoofer that makes it "come alive" at a certain level of power. In fact, once you reach a certain level power compression begins to set in and each successive increase in power will increase output by a successively smaller amount.
