Need some info about 4th order!

Does or can anyone help me figure out what kind of space is needed to run 2 12" Z V.2 subs in a 4th order in the trunk.

From what I understand you build the sealed section to sealed enclosure specs. Keep in mind the the low frequency extension will be direct reflection of this design. The sealed section serves as the high pass f3. The ported section is built to ported specs for that speaker. The tuning frequency is the low pass f3. Combine the two and you have a fourth order bandpass. Some like to use ratios for the sealed to ported. Might be best to pay for a design.

Thanks much for the info, going to have get specs from Jacob, and probably get my subs re-coned. That formula would put it around 6 cubes and just might be able to pull it off, like you said i just need to find someone who can design it.

Why are you set on running a bandpass enclosure in your trunk? I'm assuming that you are going to seal the trunk from the cabin?

Thinking or porting through deck lid with seats up, and i once was working on a 4th order and it was getting crazy loud and was leaking and not even done or really tuned

Just an FYI, when I read that I assume you are just asking about a normal ported box. If you are referring to a bandpass you should reference that.

As for building a 4th order bandpass. The real question is why are you interested. In most situations you gain nothing and lose bandwidth and in all situations you pretty much lose bandwidth. There are applications where they can make sense, but that seems to be lost on the car audio community at the moment.

Sorry about that and yes i meant 4th order bandpass. The last one i was working on sounded great and was sinificantly louder to the ear and, to tell you the truth I just want to see what could be achieved with it.. Want to try and get 150 with 2 12's.

so you really dont need a 4th order bandpass , try 6th order parallel tuned bandpass....if you really want to build a bandpass , best bet is still a normal vented enclosure
