1zcon12 vs 2xcon10's

Recommended Posts

ok guys heres the deal i was thinking of trying to go to some localish iasca competitions. i have never competed before and was wondering for the first class its 1-160 sq in. so my basic question is do i want 1 12inch zcon (113.4 sq in.) or should i go with 2 10 inch xcons (157sq in.)

my thought is with the 2 10 inch xcons (1 ohm) on a saz3500 both would be in the biggest box that will fit my trunk tuned to 34hz

all the math works out but i just wanted to know if i was on the right track before i spend like 2 grand then have it be the wrong set up to compete.

any input would be nice but if you are /was in this class tips would help

any more info needed just ask (sorry but i never planed anything like this before)

2 grand is plenty for a "sq" set up.

Agreed, a sound quality setup is more about the install and driver placement than spending big bucks.

And, appearance of the install and what the judge wants to hear. Sorry, there is too much subjectivity and things out of the competitors control to take any "SQ" competition that includes appearance and no objective testing, seriously.

2 xcon 10s have slightly more cone area than 1 12, but the zcon has more motor force. Tough call I guess until you actually test em both. I currently am having a build for 2 xcon 10s on a saz-3500d.

And that is why my new setup will be tuned to my liking. Once I get finished I might enter in a comp just to see how it does, but in the end I am the only person that I'm trying to impress. :fing34:

id say the 2 xcons. more cone and more motor force. less stress on each driver.

I do love my zcons though.
