Dcon 15" for lows?

Recommended Posts

Im new to this forum this is my first post, i am very excited to order a Dcon 15. I have heard awesome things about the 10s, and good things about the 12s. but i havent heard much about the 15, i like SQ and am looking for something really clean and smooth but will go low. I listen to rap, dubstep, and some rock, and most other electronic. But will a Dcon 15 hit as low as my songs play?

Oh yea!! Get ready for it!! What's your box plans for it? The enclosure is what makes the driver play low!

Well i plan on getting 2 sheets of mdf and i am going to probably build a box the fill the hatch. i was going to start plans today. What is a good port calculator? my friend uses 12volt.com

and should i tune under 30 or is that too low? i was thinking high 20s but i am new so could you give advice?

There's no need to tune in the high 20's for your application. Also, if you shot me your maximum dimensions I'd be glad to help you with an enclosure design. You'll love the DCON, it's a very good driver.

I had one with the recommended size box tuned to 34 hz. I was happy with it. :eek5wavey:

The tune is decided by what kind of music you listen too. Do you listen to screwed and chopped?

Screwed and chopped? Primarily hardstyle and dubstep, some rap. i plan on the 15 handling my Bass Bass, and i am looking around for good 6x9s for my hatch that can handle midbass and the punchy stuff

I would not bother putting 6x9s in your hatch with a subwoofer there. Most likely the sub will cancel them out. I think with your dcon in a nice enclosure and a good pair of mids/highs in the front will make an awesome system.

Do you plan on upgrading your front speakers? If so do you plan to amp them?

I agree with Skizzy 100% the 6x9's will be rendered useless with the sub back there anyway. You money will be better spent on a good set of highs for the front, some deadening and a decent little amp to run them with.

My Fronts are laughable but sound good with what i have for now. i will be upgrading but right now i have 40w sony 6.5s...and $5 tweets tapped into them. running on my deck. If it helps i have http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/eXcelon/1-Din_CD_Receivers/KDC-X595

And an unknown "coustic" 100w amplifier.

I will be getting an amp for the dcon, and the coustic amp will probably run my fronts if it sounds decent.
