so my buddy just got a 2010 f350 6.4L diesel and he was wanting to make it look sick without droppin ghella cash. he is going with a red and black paint scheme. the truck is already red so he want to make everything else black ( bumbers,rocker panels...ect.) so we was on youtube and came across this stuff called plati-dip. it sprays on like a spray can but when it drys, it forms a coat over whatever you want. and the best part, if u dont like it, it peals right off without leaving and residue or anything!! so i went to lowes and bought a few cans and some masking tape and gave it a whirl on my rear bumber of my f150.....

Finished product:

not bad for a $6 can of spray lol. honestly, i think its the best thing since sliced bread hahaha. so what do u guys think about this stuff???

lol thanks man. im doing all my rocker panels and front bumper next weekend. this was just kind of a test run to see if it was everything evryone said it was... and sure enough, it is! haha

I wonder how well it'll actually last, or once a few rocks hit it, it'll chip away.

I tried using it on the bottom of my shoes for grip, but it didn't last longer then five minutes.

i did my research on this stuff before i used it lol. if a rock or anything chips it, just hit the spot with a shot of more plasti-dip. it blends in with everyhting around it and you cant tell a difference from new to old. also, i talked to a guy who has had it on his truck for 2 years now and still looks fresh.

yeah. a lot nice than i had expecter really. a lot of people use this on the rims for winter time so salt doesnt eat them away. clean really good, spray it on before salt hits the roads, peal off spring time. rims still look good as new

You need about 20 cans to do 4-5 layers on an average sedan.

I have a lot of nicks and chips in the paint on my Lada. Does that stuff fill in nicks as it covers? If so maybe i'll give the beast a coat

Make sure you have a nice coat ( or better yet, several) of wax on. This stuff still contains solvents that can and will destroy your finish.

I would not trust it on the underside of a vehicle.....It's a thin/flexible plastic coating that can get nicked and pealed easily

I also would say it would probably not be the best way to undercoat a vehicle. But i suppose if you're really low on cash, it couldn't hurt to try it (probably).

I wonder how well this could be used to do racing stripes. I go to car washes sometimes, do you think the machines would peel the plasti off?
