What amp should I get for my FI Qs

Recommended Posts

Ok. I will give as much info as I can. I have $600 for a new amp. I have 2 FI Q 15s dual 2s in an 8 cube box at 33hz walled. It's a daily setup. Right now I have 2 older hifonics Amps and I'm running them at 4 ohms. So right now I have about a 500 watt system.

What amp will be the best bang for my buck thats around 3000 watts?

And how much of a difference will a new good amp make compared to the 2 hifonics Amps I have now?

If you presently have 500w total to the subwoofers then the difference between 500w & 3kw would be 7.8db maximum, minus power compression.

If you presently have 1kw total to the subwoofers (500w each) then the difference between 1kw & 3kw would be 4.8db maximum, minus power compression.

You are going to need an amplifier that can run at .5ohms, or 2 ohms at around 3000watts. Look for a used Crescendo Audio 3Kwp or Sundown SAZ3000D. Both are 0.5 ohm stable. * Find two used Sundown SAZ1500s. I just sold one with a pair of new in box SA12s for a steal $350 for all. Meaning if somebody has an amp laying around like I did and they may just want to get rid of it.

Why use two amps one would be better. Do you mean 3000rms amp? You should have gotten the D1 subs.

I know I should of got dual 1s but I didn't know at the time. And I'm leaning towards the crescendo 3k because Ive gotten the most response about that from other people as well. But the problem for me is finding one. I've been out of power at my house for 9 days and I've been using my iPhone so my searching is limited. I know crescendo has a gold amp on their website but its confusing.

They don't make the 3kwp anymore. Get a BC3500d $600

I think someone is selling a kicker zx2500 on here for $600, and it's 2 ohm stable. It should do pretty close to 3k at 2 ohms.

Just saw two Crescendo 3Kwp go for $400 a piece, they are out there. I would check out florida spl forum, there is a lot of Crescendo stuff and users there. Look through the audio forsale section.
