im about to get my wisdon teeth pulled, any tips??

well at work today, out of nowhere my wisdond teeth (which were soposed to be pulled months ago) started killing. like to the point i was sweating it was hurting so bad. so is there any tips on after i get them pulled? like what to do and not do????

They may not even bother you. I had one break and it was the worst pain I've ever had. Nothing would work. The narcotics barely took the edge off. As soon as they were pulled, I was fine. Just make sure you follow their instructions on cleaning the sockets.

Do NOT accept T3s for painkillers. Ask for Emtecs or another painkiller that doesn't contain caffeine as the caffeine will keep you up. The more sleep you get, the faster you'll heal and the less pain you'll suffer through.

Oh, most importantly-

When u first wake up, DO NOT SPIT OUT THE BLOOD. As disgusting as it sounds, your mouth will be full of blood, it's highly recommended to swallow it all.

don't worry, you will not taste it.

It's to prevent from rupturing the gum line where everything was cut from.

Remember, your mouth is very fragile so ANYTHING can rupture it.

none of mine have poked through yet but my bottom right is KILLING. i dont even feel any wisdom teeth anywhere else so im hoping ill get luck and only have 1 or 2 to pull:)

Just pop a Vicodin every 4-6 hours and sleep for a day or two. I literally slept ~48 hours straight only waking up to have ice cream and Vicodin. I woke up the third day and felt fine, but some people have told me that they took longer to feel better.

I got all 4 of mine pulled/cut out 2 weeks ago. They give you pain killers and such. Just change out gauze (spelling) every once in a while, take the pills on the schedule they give. Avoid hard foods and do not use straws. I was good to go in 3 days with only my jaw hurting in the mornings. Just follow their advice and instructions to avoid dry socket and you will be fine

Pretty much any of the painkillers mentioned in this thread will constipate you. Make sure you drink plenty of water and get some Metamucil mix.

You must have had an easy life compared to me My doctor had to chisel one of my wisdom teeth out (took him almost 3 hours and I had to be awake the whole time because my parents didn't want to pay to have me knocked out) and, because of the duration of time, my mouth looked like the Joker's mouth for like 2 weeks afterwards from irritation ... and that wasn't even close to the worst surgery I've had

Dont take more then the prescribed amounnt of vicodin or percocet because these contain tylenol plus hydrocordon. To much tylenol can cause liver damage or complete failure and death.

Hydrocodone and acetaminophen make Vicodin. Hydrocodone by itself is typically just Hydrocodone. Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Percoset, OxyContin is branded Oxycodone.
