hey all,

I'm just joining the forum for some advice and tips on an upcoming stereo install that i'm gonna do when i get home. I'm currently deployed and have picked out some audio equipment and am just looking for confirmation on it being a decent set up. Hope to be able to contribute some as well.

Thanks,

James

ok, i can do that lol

I've got the stock infinity system in my 03 dodge ram and I've done some reading and know that i'll basically have to remove the entire Infinity system, which is fine by me, will give me something to do on my R&R, and i'm pretty sure my front ds speaker is blown anyways. I don't really want a sub right off the bat, but might add one later, so I wanted to do a 5 Channel amp and run the front 3.5s off the head unit, the front (6x9s)/rear doors (6.5s) off the amp and have an open chanel for a sub later on if i deem it necessary. I'm not trying to blast anyone out, just want a nice solid upgrade from stock and something to tailgate w/. Here's the list of what i'd like to run:

1. Pioneer Avic z120bt (i've got the double din bezel set up already)

2. JL Audio XD 700/5 (amp)

3. Polk db351 (3.5")

4. Polk db651s (6.5")

5. Boston Acoustics SR95 (6"x9")

Now i know there might be some trouble "tuning" the system w/ the 3.5s running off the h/u instead of the amp, but wasn't sure if it'd be ok to run the 6x9s and the 3.5s off the same channel since i'd be using hte 3.5s for just my highs basically and i just want to run one amp under the driver's seat. Guess i could run a 6 channel and then run a second mono amp for a sub if i wanted to add one later, but i really don't think i need that much bass.

Later on i'll add some headrest dvd screens, if anyone has any options on those i'd like to hear them as well. Monitors will be from the h/u itself. from what i've read and seen i can run a movie for the rear monitors and still listen to music up front (believe the z120 to be dual zone unit) and eventually i'd like to add an additional source like a PS3 or something. So the monitors would need to have two inputs obviously. This truck will be with me for the rest of its life and will more than likely be the future family vehicle for road trips at some point

Any help or opinions are welcomed,

Thanks,

James

yeah, i was born in texas, but i'm a military brat and grew up all over so when we moved everyone would always call me tex or big tex or texdiesel (i'm 6'6" and built accordingly lol). I'm stationed at Barksdale Air Force base now and live in Bossier city, my zip code. we're only about 20 miles from the texas border.

anyone have any input or opinion on the set up i posted?

James
