Sealing off the trunk....

I tried to search for this, but couldn't find what I'm looking for..

I drive an '06 KIA Spectra. I'm having good luck with a Rockford P3 dual 2 15" in a slot ported enclosure, tuned to about 32HZ. I'm running that with a Cadence ZRS7000D. I understand the machanics behind sealing off the trunk, but I've never listened to sealed off trunk car. I'm wondering if they are purely for muscle, or can they be musical? Is it worth putting in the effort if I don't drive around with my seat folded down?? My poor trunk can't handle the pressure!

Hard to give you an answer since everybody perceives sound differently. Try it sealed off and see what sounds best to your ears.

I could do that. Just don't know if having the seat-back folded up defeats the purpose. Does anyone out there run this type of setup daily?

I have run a few and they can sound great. You will lose output by having your seat up though.

I run a set up like this and enjoy all the sound coming into the cabin. I actually listen with the seat up about half the time and it sounds good. I put the seat down or open the ski pass through when I want to get nutz. I think eliminating the trunk from the equation allows you to here the sound from the sub without the coloring of the sound. Also eliminates trunk rattle.

I will admit that the BTL I run does have mech noise so when going for SQ I personally close the seat to eliminate the extra noise.
