Disadvantages To Having Two Terminal Cups?

I'm considering getting a box built for 2 10" subs (or at least a box will be made for the subs).

I'm wondering if there are any problems with putting in 2 terminal cups / 2 leads.

Reason being is I'm running 1k right now. I might want to run 2 amps at 1k a piece. OR, I might just change my mind and run one big amp.

If the box is made with 2 leads, then I will never have any issues but if it's made with just the one, I can never use 2 amps.

So, are there any issues down the road? In particular, one big amp across two terminal cups?

Without the issue of it changing final ohm loads of course (non issue).

But if I'm paying someone to make a box professionally, I want it to look nice and have all the fixings. So, it's going to have a nice terminal cup that I can use, rather than just running it out the box that I might do on my own (and have in previous installs).

With a few thousand watts you won't have an issue with your terminal cups if they are quality ones at least.

There are several options that you can use if you wish to go a different way then terminals though. Personally, I have not had one fail under normal circumstances and I have been doing this for a very long time.

Our demo truck uses 4 of our terminals and on a burp we have just over 4k going through them. During demoing they see an average of 2-3k depending on voltage, rise/drop impedance, and of course what we are playing will factor into that as well.

No issues as long as they are in phase with each other.

OR find these at your local radio shack, still look good but are better.

The plastic cups are garbage (all of them), running bolts and nuts is ghetto, and I think some amplifier output stages have been trashed because of them..... Use the knock through kind in the bottom of the picture above ^^. They work the best and are worth the extra few bucks.

I prefer the satin finish ones from PartsExpress.

Additionally, I run a set for each woofer for wiring flexibility. The box below has 8 woofers and 8 sets of those posts.
