Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me on what box volume and dimension could i use to get the most output on my Fi ssd full option? Going to power it with a sound magus x1502 1500w at 1ohm. The car is a mitsubishi adventure, a minivan...and what box tuning you could advise,i want to have deep low bass but sometimes i also listen to house/club music...thanks

That's a lot of power for that sub, (I'm sure you know, but it's only rated for 1,000 watts.)

Either way, If you're set on that, I'd try to keep it on the lower side of Fi's recommended box volume, somewhere in the area of 3 to 3.5 cubic feet would be good. Fi recommends around 31-35 hertz, you can read more about what you bought here:

I thought 1500w on an ssd for daily is fine..i am planning to go to 4cu.ft or 4.2 cu.ft box tuned at 35hz but i am confused because just like what have you said i should go to 3.5 or 3.8 cu ft box...what are the cons of having a big box with that kind of power?should a 5inch or 6inches of port suffice?thanks...

Port area is very important. 1500 on an ssd is fine if you know how to set your gain properly.

I think there wouldnt be a problem in setting gains...my problem is the sub box...hehe...because i came from a 12incher...now i am shifting to a 15inch so i have no idea on what box should i use...i cant ask my friends because they also came from 12incher at the same time we are all shifting to single 15,one btl n2,one bl and a DP...im gonna be using a slotport/l port box...

Box size lowers mechanical handling, If I were you I would stick to the smaller size (to prevent unloading).

For tuning I would suggest 37 Hz because you listen to house/etc.

I would suggest at a minimum 77.02 in^ of port area to prevent chuffing at the port.

julian i am trying to figure out on how to use the torres calculator but i cant figure out if my inputs is correct...and i think i wouldnt put any bracing...can someone help me to achieve 3.5 cu ft with the tuning of 35 hz using the torres calculator with the said 77.02 in^ or more port area, my maximum depth would be 20 inches and my width at 34 inches. i tried using the RE box calculator and i came out with this computation...

i do not know if this is correct... i hope someone can help and enlighten me...better with a different box calculator that is more accurate than RE calculator or a torres calculator...thanks everyone.or even a different idea of a box that is upfiring or sub up port at the back...

If a slotport box rear fire the maximum width that could fit my car would be 34 inches and a depth of 20 inches i think there wouldnt be a problem in box height.the sub would be an fi ssd15 full option and the amp is x1502.wishing the box to be 35 or 36 hz.thanks again julian for helping...its a big help...
