suggestion on an amp,,,,

Recommended Posts

i have two SSA ICON 12's in a custom built ported box but my amp keeps going into protection after a while, i kno i can turn it down, but i like the power.

i kno these subs can definitely handle it, im currently running a 1100 watt CRUNCH amp.

what size amp should i be looking for and what gauge wire do i need to run to handle it

i thought about buying another 1000watt and running to amps. pros/ cons greatly appreciated

thanks, zack

Find out why your current amplifier is going into protect before you double the current draw.

Yea, definitely a good start to figure out why it's going into protect.

Don't ever buy 2 amps to power one sub unless you are strapping.

What model? You should be running 1000rms each or up to 1250 if new style.

No not really, you cant suggest what power he should give his subs until you know the enclosure size they are in. You probably have your subs wired to a lower ohm load than the amp is stable at or you dont have enough voltage to supply that amplifier. Check to find the problem before adding another amp.

sounds like your wiring config is too low for current amp.

Learn before you play.

any questions, ask away.
