internal lead?

Recommended Posts

was looking at ordering a Fi Q and saw this as a new option, are the leads between the spiders not standard on these subs anymore?

Too many people don't understand the concept of what a subsonic filter is..so we did a newer smaller diameter spider that mounts lower on the former and doesn't hit the tinsels and it still moves just as far. (the IB3 18 has been done like this for years and the people who run them are FAR more meticulous then the car audio crowd, they would be the first to complain if it were a problem with "lead slap")

It simply works fine, personally I prefer the external leads because it leaves more room for 'oops' factor.

Also, the cost on the lead carrying spiders has went up 4x in recent months..we ate it until we came up with a solid solution that we are happy with and works well.

I can honestly say, I push my Gen 1 Q WAY past it's limits, regularly and it will not break.

I mean, mechanically bottoming it out for a few seconds at a time, repeatly. The spiders look as good as new, with no signs of major wear.

I can not for the life of me figure out how people break them. It seems almost impossible unless your a total idiot, and don't know what softparts sound like coming in contact with something its not suppose to. And the only way I can see it really breaking that way is ignoring the "funny noise" and keep playing it for a couple of minutes.

*I like to push stuff to its limits and see if it holds. So no need to ask why, I do it on purpose.(Sorta, I don't play it just to bottom it out, but I have a good bit more power than RMS, almost double actually.)

i know what you mean...it is very hard for me to see how people are ripping spiders and popping tinsels. when i play my sub i can hear when the moving assembly wants to get funky and i turn the sub down. this ONLY happens when i sample a song that i havent heard before. I have a BL. To me it seems as though the only way to pop spiders and leads is you would have to be wanging on that thing REALLY hard WAY below tuning. Just my .02 :D
