Amp for Rl-p?

I'm buying some used RL-ps(dual 4 ohm), but in order to do so I must get rid on an amp(s). I will more than likely put them in a box between 1-1.25 cubes net sealed, should be about 1.2. I have 2 SS rubicon 1000-2s(1000 watts rms at 2 ohms each) or a kx1200 (rated at 1400@1 ohm). I have heard many say that 600 watts is more than enough and some that swear by giving it 1kw each.

I would like to go with the single amp, but dont know if I would acheive full output with it.

Any help from past/present rl-p owners would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't owned/heard an rl-p, please state that if posting.

I almost guarantee you'll be happy with the output from the single amp, but as long as you have the amps to begin with, why not use them?

Cant figure out what ya mean by as long as you have the amps why not use them? Are you saying stick with the extra power ?

Oh, I may possibly go ported around 3.5 net @32hz or so.

As I told ya in PM, so long as you don't mind a measly lost dB, stick with the ~700 watts per driver as that is right on par for gettin' the RL-p where she wants to be. While 1000 watts per driver certainly isn't a bad thing, it is also not necessary for someone looking for a well balanced car audio system and who isn't worryin' about every last fractional gain in literal output. Your suggested enclosure of 1.75 cu ft @ 32 Hz per RL-p12 is definitely workable, and if you prefer an emphasis on the deep bass, I would suggest you consider a tuning around 28 Hz.

i had my RL-p15d4 running off a JL e1800d. never did reach the 1000watts the amp is rated at because it got more than loud enough for me at 800. (cone moved a lot**)

i personally keep mine @ 600watts. im not 20 years old yet, and i dont wanna be losing my hearing anytime soon

see I am torn, I love the SoundStreams,

the dual amp idea is always sweet, but requires more current, and the Kicker pushed out plenty of power for the RL-p's, so if space and current is an issue, go with the single amp, if output is of the most importance, go with the SoundStreams, they are A/B IIRC, and the kicker is D, so the SQ could lean to be more on the side of the SoundStreams

a single solid amp should work fine on pushing those RL-ps. i'm actually debating on getting another RL-p 15. if i do, i'll just have my arc amp push them. they'll get ~500 watts each.
