rl-i box...

Recommended Posts

well i'm starting to get into home audio and i'm doing a very basic and small setup. looking at an rl-i to run in my HT setup. probably just gonna build a standard sealed or ported box. what size and what tuning prequency should i use for each box? i will most likely be giving the sub 110 watts. by the this is a 10" sub.

Hey iceteebone - welcome back :domoslay:

Sealed I would aim for around 0.6 cu ft.

Ported on the RL-i10 in home, shoot for 0.7 cu ft tuned around 25 Hz.

I would suggest going ported if ya can, particularly off such small power.

110 watts will no doubt work, but you could easily tripple that and gain more overall output.

i'm not looking to rattle dishes in the kitchen, just add some bass and lows to my HT. i'll probably go for the ported.

would do you recommend for an rl-p? i'll probably get a bigger amp. i got 2 12's i was gonna put in my car, but i think i'm gonna put 1 in my car ported, and the other sealed for my HT

Well, you certainly shouldn't run the RL-p off of a paltry 110 watts, that just won't cut it (I'd suggest a minimum 350 watts, up to 700 for rock solid performance). Given the 12" driver; 1.8 cu ft net volume tuned around 22 Hz should do ya nicely. Sealed, I would shoot for 1.45 cu ft net.
