Power Handling vs Box Size

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I know iv posted so many topics about my box but its time for another one. I WAS going rebuild my box for my 18" BTL N2, and make it closer to 7.5 cuft net. Iv been thinking about future upgrades though, and im thinking in the end of it all ill be powering my BTL off of two AB VFL 100.1's strapped (3000wrms). Now with that much power to my subwoofer, would 7.5cuft be a little too big? Iv been talking to one or two people about it and they said it might be a better idea to keep it around 5.5-6 cuft with that much power running to it.

Why do you want to put 3,000 watts on it? Is it a daily driver?

Can we get some more specs on your current enclosure?

What kind of music do you listen to? Can you fit a proper 7.5 cubes in the trunk of your car?

Only YOU can blow your drivers. They will only try to do what you tell them to.

That being said, you should optimize your install and not do something so you CAN run more power than necessary. Just a waste of money.

Alright, well i can fit a 7.5 cuft box in my trunk, and they only reason i was thinking about running 3000 wrms is because i already have an AB 100.1, so it would only be like another 200 bucks and i can strap 2 of them together. Right now iv got a 5.5cuft box with ~16 square inches of port per cube. Idk, just shooting ideas.

Tuned to 32hz and getting louder on the meter wouldnt be a bad thing... :) But im not going to be going to tons of competitions, i just like a loud daily driver and i enjoy demoing.

Don't expect it to be waaaay louder. Expect more excursion from the driver, more flex, and more voltage drop with a slight increase in volume. If that's what you want then go for it.
