creative sounds full range 4.5" driver

Recommended Posts

okay i was thinking about getting rid of my 6.5" SLC comp set for a pair of these.

http://www.creativesound.ca/index.html

it says flat 65hz - 20khz. its gona take up a lot less space in my car, and im prolly gonna fiber these and port them to 62hz or so to bring up that midbass freq.

will this actually play down to 65hz? 80 even?

I'm thinking of using them as well but in a 2 way setup, replacing the midrange/tweeter. They should go that low but whether it will sound good is another thing....BTW, what would you use for a port, a straw or something??

Your definition of flat is strange: -3dB at 65Hz

Of course that is easily improved via your enclosure/cabin gain but you are going to seriously run out of Xmax trying to get any real sound out of a 4.5" driver. It might sound nice at extremely low levels, but to keep up with you SS it will not. If it was in a house you could use an array of them, but I think for car duty I would stick them only in the middle of a three way or perhaps for the lazy solution to those idiotic cars with 4x6 plate options only.

Agreed. They did not handle power too well in my app, albeit a rather large enclosure, but they still were only capable of handling 5 watts max before mechanical stress and noise took over.
