2 ssa dcon 12 vs ssa icon 15

Recommended Posts

I am looking to replace my 2 12 kicker cvrs.I have narrowed it down to the dcons and the icon.I have 700 watts on tap from a bbl gto 700.1. I can't decide on a single 15 inch icon or two 12 inch dcons.which would get louder and still sound good

Either would be great. I'd probably do the 12's for slightly more cone area. But if you do the 15 you can always add more power later. I doubt that you'll be disappointed with either.

The subs are going to go in a 1997 mustang.probably in place of the rear seats due to having a tiny trunk

with the power you have.. and the music you listen too with the space you have .. i would suggest 2 Dcons sealed.

would offer you better sound on rock, would work great with the power. and im more then sure it would sound way better then what you have.

i have a single icon 15 ported on a JL 500/1 she listens to it all.. and to be honest it sounds great. but if i were to plan a stereo for her it would be 2 Dcons sealed for her.

I would also do two 12" Dcons but I would do them ported in about a 3.5 cube box tuned to about 30hz. If done right they will sound just as well as a sealed enclosure but will offer up more low end as well as Dcons have been known to shine in ported enclosures opposed to sealed. JMHO

The dual ported Dcon's is a good idea. They are much heartier sub woofers then people realize.

If I was to use a sealed enclosure how many cubic feet should it be

Here are enclosure specs and a few designs for the DCON 12

Unless a sub is solely designed for sealed enclosure I always go ported for the added bump in efficiency. Available space for an enclosure is also something to consider.
