Why is there a price break on the Xp spool, but not the Xs? I do really like the colors.

5$ a foot for pure copper is pretty outrageous IMO when Welding cable is the same and cheaper.

But it's pretty, i guess that sells more than anything.

Its not that much prettier.

But when compared to Kicker, RF and Memphis wire, prices is comparable.

And Welding cable isn't exactly a fair comparison. Cause welding 1/0 is actually a tad smaller than most car audio 1/0, so that that into consideration, and isn't pretty for those people who like that. And you can get pretty wire for the same money.

But $3 a foot for CCA seems a tad steep though, for us internet people anyways.

Also, Kicker and Memphis wire looks very similar to the Power Flex, and they both have the same strand count, at 4704.

Just seems XS Power wanted to get a little piece of the wiring market. Regardless, people will buy it to match their batteries.

I noticed that. But i prefer to get all the wire in the ring terminal with the welding cable, rather than having to trim some down with the CA cable. Seemed pointless. If I want 2/0 I will get 2/0. Welding cable still meets the standards for 1/0, IIRC. Getting pure copper, be it a tad smaller than leading CA cable, cheaper than CCA I'm all over that :)

Class K welding cable is constructed from ~1050 strands of 30 AWG wire while most of designer "car audio" wire is constructed from ~4700 of 36 AWG wire, so either way you're getting roughly the same resistance per foot, just a more flexible wire and some pretty insulation. As to whether people will pay 5 bucks a foot, of course they will. Just like some people will pay 5 million for a solid gold toilet or 4.7 million for a 1:8 scale model Lamborghini Aventador.

But you can get pure copper car audio wire for same as welding wire. And if you use the correct ring terminals, you don't have to trim. But if you use 1/0 welding ring terminals, you will.

But why would you think its pointless if you have to trim? Do you think just cause the wire isn't actually in the terminal, that its not getting used?

I meant it's pointless to have a wire that's so large you have to trim it to use it with crimpable ring terminals. I don't solder my terminals, I prefer pure copper terminals I can crimp. So I guess I don't use the "correct" ones for CA wire. Oh well, those are too expensive anyways.

Honestly if price is a concern, making your own ring terminals can be quiet a bit cheaper. And can out just as the ones bought. Plus, you can get the correct size to fit your wire.

What do you mean by, "the top one"? I think it's pointless to have to modify something like that to be able to use it. I have a way around trimming and using all the wire, I just prefer it all to fit in my terminals is all. No big deal.

And your right its no big deal, but saying since you trim, the extra wire is pointless, which I don't believe is the truth.

Basically sounds like your saying if the strands isn't touching whatever its connected to directly, its like its not even there, and useless. So like trimming 1/0 to fit 4gauge and now the 1/0 can only handle 100amps of current.

It's all personal preferences on my part. I want things to work perfectly. 1/0 terminals with 1/0 wire. When my wire is too big for my lugs it's stupid having to work around it, but I understand that I'm mixing welding terminals and CA wire so it's my fault. That's why I bought welding cable this time around :) As far as the wire not being able to handle as many amps after being trimmed, i've always thought that was the case. But now thinking about it I could have been wrong this whole time!

Losing some strands on the ends when trimming isn't going to hinder performance, or add resistance, or lower the amperage capacity.

That makes a lot of sense, I just never really thought of it much. Thanks for clearing that up for me :):+1: for you!

I just thought of it as a bottle neck situation. If you cut that wire strand, the electricity isn't able to go anywhere at the end of it, so it would have to jump to another and slow down the transfer of electrons, creating heat or resistance or something.
