I dont understand aero ports or whatever?..

Recommended Posts

...OK so another quick question, Im trying to create options so that I will have a few choices.. You guys said that (4) 4" ports would make enough port area, but I was wondering if (6) 2" ports would make enough port area? or (6) 3" ports would? If I can use (6) 2 or 3" ports I could achieve tuning in the lower 30's, So I was wondering if 6 of the 2 or 3 inchers would make enough port area for my 4 subs in 4.66ft^3

I just want to see my options and draw up a few boxes each way that will work to see whats best before building the box.

In short, no. Its not even close to the same port area

how many 2 or 3 inch ports would I need min? It says for 30hz I need a min. port diameter or 10.8 : (6) 2" ports would be 12" of diameter

Also says minimum area should be 91.59" but I have yet to figure out how to calculate the area of aero ports.. do you just take like (6) 2" ports @ 11" each = 6x11=66" port area or what? I suck at math rofl. I dont know how to find port area of a aero port.

I pretty much need a math tutor. :suicide-santa:

Pi(radius^2)=one port x how many ports you want/need

You can get away with less port area with psp ports because of the flairs. I would try and do two 6"s or four 4"s

alright.. Thanks again for the help. I just have no idea how 39hz will be, I had 33hz last time and loved the lows.. I was hoping to go lower like 30 and with 6 2's or 3's I could have hit 30-33hz because smaller port diameters needed less length and would actually fit.

If I want to add more length to my ports to make it lower, can I put curves like an elbow joint on the aero port since my box isnt very long? If I could do that, then I could make them longer and achieve lower tuning like mid 30's or does putting a curve in an aero port mess up how it works? I know in slot ported boxes most have curves in the port walls

Like if I put (2) 6" aeros towards the middle back of the box, Could I have them go in 17" that they are and add a curve to make 1 go left about 8" and one curve right about 8" to make about 25" length and get 33hz tuning

Or where do you get some 8" aeros? do they exist? if I calculated right, I could use (1) 8" port and it would have about the same port area as (2) 6" or (4) 4"

You can add turns in your ports. You can find bigger ports, certain people make them. When that calculator say 10" of port that means 10" of port area. Two 6" ports do not have the same area as one 10"
