dont think so... its a 91 civic the only thing my alternator has is a plug with a bunch of wires going into it... and then a stud with a wire that goes to the battery.

Same as every other vehicle I've ever worked on, why would you need to add a ground cable to something that is bolted to the engine block?

I've been hearing this :bull: about using a ground cable for the alt but I've never used one, nor has anyone else I've ever known and nobody has had any problems at all.

The big 3 takes care of that.

all adding a ground to an already grounded alt (bolted to block which is grounded itself) does is add another ground for it, its neither a bad thing nor required. i do have my alt grounded to my chassis as well as it being bolted to the block.

in all fairness ask mechman why there alts have a ground stud on it. Ask what's the point of that'

It's there because it's another path of least resistance which is the path the electrons choose. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't, but it's cheap insurance either way.

ya actually when i got my mechman alternator it had 2 studs... one for a line from the alt to the pos. terminal.... and one for a line from the alt to the neg. terminal on the battery....
