center console sub.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has made or heard a sub placed between the front seats. I have a venture mini van. I can have about 1cf of space to work with (id). If you have done this or heard a setup like this please let me know what you thought.

Thanks,

Duane

Center console enclosures can sound fantastic. I have heard a few and they work great.

I would be tempted to fire down, port down or port back.

Is there absolutely no space in the rear to fiberglass a small enclosure to the side, next to the fenderwell area?

The last one I heard was forward firing in an SQ setup and it was amazing.

I tried that in my jeep and it sounded great, but it was nearly a wall. I should rephrase, I fired forward with my enclosure directly behind the front seats.

What type of vehicle were you in?

Well that's what I wondered, what might work great in a tiny cabin like that, may not in a large van.

Or maybe it will. :peepwall:

True, I'm not sure about that as I haven't heard any decent setups in vans.

Thank you for the replies,

I have a TB 740c. It's a 8" 150watt sub rated at 120-150rms. 12mm X-max. Anyway I modeled it ported and 6th order BP. ported goes a bit lower (33hz f3), but the 6th order is about 2-3 db louder. Because this isn't going to get very loud off a single 8, I'm leaning toward the BP. Btw f3's on the BP are 38-84hz. I will need 3" ports and I don't know if I can make it fit.

Any one here designing 6th order boxes? Should I start a new thread about the box? I'd like a second opinion if anyone can.

Here is the sizes: .275cf @ 66hz and .5cf @ 37hz

And a Pic:

Thank you,

Duane

Here's a link to my build for a Sundown SA-8 in a center console in a mini-van.... I love it. It's more of a sound quality setup for me, but hits around 129 dB with around 450 watts running it. Maybe you can get a few ideas from mine...

I built one for my 95 F250. I used 2 JL w3 dvc 10s in 1/2 cubic ft chambers sealed. I fired them down. Up front bass is great. I ran a MTX 2300 on them with Boston 6.5 mids & tweets. I plan to build one for my 04 F250 4 door. I will use one 12 ported. I wanted a Exodus audio shiva 12 but they are gone. I will build the box once I have the sub for it. Console sub boxes rock. My old F250 had plenty of bass & it was up front in your face.
