Pre-drilling the screw holes will keep it from splitting...I use a few more screws to cover the distance you are spanning as well but I overbuild everything

looks good jordan, use wood glue, predrill and countersink the screws. this is way better than flakko can do, even when he gets his cuts from home depot...

lol.. yah i predilled the holes but i guess i got to close to the edge cuz it split.. around 32 hz.. thanks for the input guys..
