Check out the link below

tips and tricks to gain DBs

Interesting read. Was perplexed by the results of removing the 45s. Great things to think about.

Is the show in Tulsa, Bixby or Enid? The next show in Bixby on the 11th is a MECA event, the 25th in Tulsa is MECA state finals, the Enid show I'm not sure about but is probably USACI. I'll help you if I can, pm me if you would like. I'm in Seminole btw and I'll be at the 2 MECA shows in September.

What have you hit before? And what is the location of your port?

this will be my first time getting metered and my port is in the middle of the box and it faces my back hatch

Charge your batteries all night before the show ...

and do not play your radio on the way to the show or before your SPL run and use up much needed juice for the frequiency sweep and burp ...

just a suggestion ...

my port is not the best port me and my buddy that built the box arent any good at figuring out ports so i went on to 12volt.com and did there port clac and it said to make a 6x6 square port 11'' deep which i dont think is bigg enough for my subs so this weekend we are redoing the port and putting 2 6'' round ports each 20'' long

The 11th and 25th shows are MECA events. Do you know what class you will be running in? I can give you some tips and pointers for competing in MECA. Since you have never been, you will likely want to be in the Amatuer Street division and in this division, you have to do your run with the car off and music only (remember, no foul language is allowed either) you are not allowed to have the car running and no tones. If you choose to use tones and/or have your vehicle running, you will be placed in the Street class most likely (this depends on your install/vehicle and whether or not any part of your system is above the window/back seat, any other mods) What type of vehicle are you using? What size subs and how many? What amp/s? What do you have for an electrical system? Answer these and we can help put you in the right class and on to the winners circle!

6x6 would be 36in^2 of port area,

And 2 6" would be, πr^2 per circular port, thus 2(π3^2) = 56in^2 of port area

This should help.

That should be a great setup in AS3 for a first timer. I believe that amp has a pair of 70 fuses on board right? So 140 total amps of fusing with four 12s puts you in AS3, S3, DB3 classes, if you want to run a smaller fuse inline before the amp, you can drop down to a 50 amp fuse and run in AS2, S2, and DB2 class.

Here is a site you can click around on for info on port size calculations.

You will have to be in AS3, S3, or DB3 with that amount of cone area and fusing. You will also be in my class most likely, unless I decide to drop down to 2.

Great post Stefan, I couldn't have said it better myself :)

I might make some simple calculators later to make things easier for people. Guess I should check and see if it's all the same to the12volt calcs. :)

It is, it uses Vance Dickason's formulas.

Heh then no need for another calculator with the same formula. They don't list a calc for minimum port area though?
