Multiple amp electrical questions

Hi, im sorta new to this stuff and i had several questions that i hoped can be answered.

1. Does an amp put out as much watts(rms) as they say they do? Does this also apply to cheaper amps?

2. When do i need to run a capicitor?

3. Can subs take more power than recommended by the manufacturer?

4. If i listen to mainly rock/metal what type of box should i use? I'd like it to be loud but also feel like some child is kicking the back of my seat.

All your questions have been asked before and can be answered by using the search button and reading around.

1. No, music is dynamic so the power being sent from your amp is always changing. A cheap amp usually won't do rated power. Reliability is the main concern when buying a cheap amp.

3. Yes, but it's not usually a good idea and you won't really gain any audible output by doing so within reason

1. It all depends on the quality of the amp, if it says 2500w peak then its most likely a piece!!

2. NEVER!

3.If you know what your doing then yes they can, I dont recommend doing it if your new to car audio tho

4. Sounds like you would be better suited for a sealed box, there more punchy and tight

So your saying ported boxes are sloppy and bad sounding?

Every enclosure I've had a hand in has played Slayer double bass just as well as it did Young Jeezy.

And so you know, I don't believe in sealed boxes. Just me.

Never once did i say ported boxes are sloppy and sound bad because thats all i use and will ever use also. OP stated he likes it to hit him in the back and likes metal and rock, from my experience sealed boxes punch alot harder and sound very accuate but arnt as loud. You can do the same with ported but there wont be as much punchiness as a sealed. Also just my experience

Then you have not built a good ported enclosure. My BL plays exactly like bassahaulic said, very punchy on double bass and also crushes jeezy. It sounds just as good on metal as my SSD did in a sealed box, just louder.

all y boxes have been built my professionals, box i have now for my 2 sa-10's was built by audible customs, didnt say ported doesnt get punchy or any good for metal, i said sealed boxes are going to be better at what they do, yes my ported box gets down on everything but OP stated a specific sound he wants
