You don't!!!

I had a cap, herd alot of bad about them, then went to autozone and got a marine batt. for $35, I could hear a difference.

using a cap is like playing football without any gear on.

Sure it works as in it's still alive but unless your system is strong enough without it, something will die from lack of gear.

They make a great boat anchor ...

Well, actually they could contaminate the water.

So they wouldn't really work in that application either ...

Occasionally I use a lanyard to wire my cap if I am driving over 65mph on the water, but only for fitted. For universal fit caps I put them over the throttle control of the boat as it is less annoying than having the cap whip around.

I would sell it then put that money towards a nice deep cycle battery.

There is nothing wrong with playing football without your gear on unless your soft.

are they good for getting noise out of your system if the typical "move grounds, switch rca's ect" dont work?

Not that cap

^Yeah, I'll try to explain to my understanding, since Sean doesn't go into detail unless asked. :P

Certainly see capacitors used on positive wire in between amplifier/headunit to speaker terminal, but in this case your using a very large capacitor for a different intended application.

Using a capacitor inline to an amplifier to help stabilize / stiffen the electrical supply is almost always bad. They don't store enough power to actually help, certainly don't keep up with the amps power draw, and since they don't store enough power they are constantly discharging and recharging, thus sucking more amperage from your battery / alt.

Just adding another item that draws power.

Adding a battery is a better idea, even if its small. Make sure its a sealed agm type, otherwise it'll leak poisonous gases in the cabin.

Hope this makes sense, typing on a mobile is a trick sometimes :P

how about a batcap? They use to be all the rage now you never hear from them any more. Are they any good for daily use?

They're overpriced batts, caps in very very limited scenarios actually do well.

A marine battery will be fine, I used one with no problems what so ever.

"all the rage" by those who didn't know what they were doing perhaps.
