Recommended Posts

I'm looking to install some subs/kickers in my chevy. I've never done so, so please excuse my noob-ness.

I know i need an amp to power it all up. what do you think of this? My link

What amp would best power this? kind of on a low budget thanks.

I'm thinking about getting a loaded enclosure instead of building a box. since i have no idea how and no experience in doing that.

I'm gonna need that, an amp, and wires. I have a friend who could hook it all up or i could take it to geek squad.

all of this for under $500 dollars. I need a little bit of cargo space.. not too much.

I want these things to bump! drive my neighbors crazy type bump. So i can listen to dj screw and eminem in my car.

I'm from seattle but my hearts from houston.

I think you should take the time to learn about enclosures and box design so you can build a solid system the first time around. The box doesnt mention wood thickness or port size and tuning. The prefab boxes i have heard all sounded like shit, but i never heard this particular one. I think you should be patient and make well educated purchases, this will save you hassel in the long run. Just my $.02.

Bang for buck usually = low power, high cone area.

Read some on this forum and post intelligent questions, the very knowledgable people here will be glad to help.

Good luck on your system and :WELCOME: to ssa!

That's a Kicker factory enclosure. You can be sure it's made well and made to perform. I would find a nice cheap name brand 4-500 watt amp and call it a day. Make sure it makes it's power at 4 ohms though.

Tirefryr's right, these enclosures are pretty well built and should perform quite well. You have tons of amp choices too considering you only need 3-500 watts to really get those Kickers moving to their full potential. If you plan on upgrading some day, there are plenty of budget amps that will produce the power you need at 4 ohms right now and are stable at 2 or 1 ohm for future upgrades. If you go with those subs, you should have no problem staying under your $500 budget.

thanks guys. I'll be sure to look through posts on here.

I'm most likely gonna go with the enclosure, unless i can find a how-to on building one.

Build your own enclosure only if you want to for the sake of pride and doing it yourself and you have the skill. Frankly, at the price for that loaded enclosure, it's going to be damn near impossible for you to equal it money wise. You may save $50 over that, but being your first enclosure, it's likely not to be as nice or perform as well. Of course, you could be a master craftsman that you've not even known you were and could make the greatest enclosure in the world.

Best buy has that enclosure/subs to listen to. You should go check them out to see how you like the sound before you buy.

i would reconsider the loaded kicker's, you can get soo much better for the same price or within your budget. Iv heard from alot of friends that buy them that say they sound really hallow and almost pingy. Also if you like your lows then forget about it, check out the dcons or i heard the skars are pretty nice also

My friend runs 2 Skar's and they make some damage. I would also consider trying out the Skar's in a custom box.
