Would 2000 be to much for 2 SA-10's? I was told by Jacob too put them into a 2 cube box, but i dont know if thats too much power.

I have 2 sa10's in 2.5 cu ft net @32hz running @1ohm off an saz-1500d. They take what it can dish out, but I couldn't see them taking any more. So 2 cu ft for 2000 sounds about right. Just make sure you have enough port area. I'm running a 40 sq in kerfed slot port.

Noone is going to know until YOU do it. If one guy says he's running 2000 watts to his sa-10's and they are working just fine, well good for that guy, it does not mean you can AT ALL. Every application is different and will not work the same. As most people say on this forum, if you have to ask how much a woofer could possibly take, then you probably shouldn't do it or stick to the rms rating which is what I would do.

You also have other things to think about. Do you have a stable and sound electrical system to support that 2000 watts?

For example, this guy could be running 2000 watts to his sa-10s but he has (for example only) a DC Power 270xp, 1 d3100 up front and 2 D3400's in the back and it will bump all day and not get warm once. While the other guy running the same amp and subs is clipping the hell out of them and plays the subs for 30 minutes before it thermally fails due to the excessive heat from clipping the woofer because he spent no money on the much needed electrical upgrades. That's why I stress that every application is different, and that noone will know until you actually do it.

Then you should have gone with more or larger subs. There's no replacement for displacement when it comes to getting louder. As Denim and Stefanhinote had said, it's not the best way to go about it because it's not an efficient way to do so. You can use a program like WinISD to give you an idea about how much more power it takes to raise SPL levels. It's only a calculation, but it can show you what we're trying to say. Doing so you can see that in order to significantly raise the SPL level of a driver by power alone it will have to go well beyond it's thermal or mechanical ability to handle it. That shows in a glance that it's simply not the way to go. Besides that, "harder hitting" is a horrible way to describe what you're trying to achieve. If you want it louder and "harder hitting" you'll either have to add more 10's or get larger subs.

Better yet.... I punched this into WinISD real quick just to show everyone.

These are drivers that are already in the program I used just for reference. Same manufacturer, same series both in whatever WinISD considers as optimal enclosures. They're rated at 250wrms and as you can see in the first example the 18 is considerably louder than the 10 on a 250watt signal.

Now look at the power it took to get the 10 to the same theoretical output as the 18....

1500 WATTS!!!! The driver will never take that much power, no matter the fancy enclosure or work that was done and is why using more power to get louder is simply the wrong way to do so.

Why do you feel the need to send so much power to something that wasn't meant to handle it? You would be risking blowing the subs and wouldn't even see much of an increase in output (if any at all audibly) compared to sending them what they're rated to handle. You won't get harder hitting by sending so much power to them. You'll just fry them

I completely agree with everything that was previously stated, but if you have the money for the 2000 I say get it. As long as you're smart having headroom is awesome. We all know how often were changing things around. If you are smart with the gain you'll be fine, but if you don't know what you're doing stay closer to the 600 per.

Also something to consider is your electrical system. 2000 without any upgrades could be very damaging to equipment.

I completely agree with everything that was previously stated, but if you have the money for the 2000 I say get it. As long as you're smart having headroom is awesome. We all know how often were changing things around. If you are smart with the gain you'll be fine, but if you don't know what you're doing stay closer to the 600 per.

I also completely agree, there's nothing wrong with headroom at all when it's used for the right reasons. :drink40:

:WTFBubble: Those enclosures are loosing TONS of aggression by just "Laying" on the back seats ...

Remove the back seats and "Mount" the enclosures to the body of the vehicles ... YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE !!!

Mount those enclosures correctly and I would be willing to bet there would be a BIG difference ... :fing34:

We are not saying don't do it, we are saying be careful when you do. Be responsible with your gains and smart with your settings, have a good electrical to back up the power, and remember that the gain knob is not a volume knob.

He could get the 2000 just for upgrade room, but who says he has to wire it at 1 ohm? He could wire it at 2 ohm and be easier on the electrical and not kill the subs from accidental too much power.
