Best component speaker system question ?

Found a great deal on ebay for Hertz HSK 165 and Mille MLK 2 . 2011 models .

I was reading about the Mille having tweeter protection ,is this a good thing to have ? Are hertz really that good ? I've heard nothing but good reviews about them .

The tweeter protection concerns me cause my Orion HCCA would cut out at loud levels but i dont think they were distorting . It had to replace them cause of that . Is it worth an extra $100 for the Mille series or should the HSK high Energy be enough ? I have about 125+ rms clean per channel from my ESX 1204 amp

If you were causing the tweeters to go into protect before then you should probably have protect otherwise you'll be apt to blow whatever you have. Is it necessary? Not if you actively listen for stress and adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the info . Can you list what sets that can handle high rms compared to the Hertz ? The Mille list for about $1000 can be bought for $240 online. Not trying to be cheap but thats all i can affrord right now . any picks with high rms and SQ around $200 . Ive tried many in the past orion hcca ,Cdt,DEi,Fical . Clif d,Hifonics . CDT were the worst in power . Blowing out quickly. Orion would go into protection mode . There so many brands . Please help.....

I really like my Alpine SPX-17REF..good mid-bass and the tweets are super smooth. Might be something worth looking into for around $200.

Your install is going to determine everything. You can spend the extra money on "better" gear and still have subpar results.

High RMS is a meaningless spec. It will describe output at all or actually anything for that matter. Usually it is chosen via marketing and not engineering as well. If you are cheap and truly want SQ then spend most of your money on the install and not the drivers.

I second Alpine's SPX-13/17REF series. I run them as well, in my opinion can't be beat for the price. They get loud, and sound excellent. The tweeter is worth mentioning, has a nice warm smooth sound to it.

I couldn't agree with this more. Speaker placement and aiming, amp and EQ setting's, The method you mount the speakers, among other things will determine the SQ of things. Obviously you don't want to buy complete crap, but any quality comp set will produce good sound if set up right. RMS rating is a poor thing to use as a decision maker, as a driver with a lighter cone is going to be more efficient and just as loud with less power. I personally like to give drivers about double their RMS rating for unclipped clean power that can give the peak's needed to have proper dynamic's in my music.
