Kool Kool...

Here is the box (you saw a pic of the beginings before i think) still nto finsihed. just got the PVC for the ports and Bondo to finish it off today. as soon as i finish this post im going to put hte ports in and screw the baffle on.

Picture103.jpg

And here is a comparison to a cheapo 8... i dont even reemmber what brand, it came out of a bass tube, the bass tube and al lwas like $60. of ocurse the amp was pure garbage. anyway...i tas silver, i painted it black and put a ghetto brahma dust cap on it. :)

Picture100.jpg

and here is the wickedest scrap box you'll evah see evah...prototype for what a more SPL friendly version will be w/ 2 187 12's or other entry SPL driver.

Picture101.jpg

Picture102.jpg

basically i figure if i can get this to get over 140 on the AC with my 2 Audiobahn 10's im trying to sell its worth it modified for SPL as i am doing the enclsoure text book....so its really designed for like extention down to 20Hz flat to like 5,000Hz if you flip the baffle....but ya

ya, older modles arent as good but they still wang. from what ive read its just a new back plate and a new spider.

i was planing on forward firing ports but the elbows are jsut too damn big with 3" and im already pushing it with port area and my tuning. WinISD says im pushing 80ft/sec around tuning with 500w. i only have around 14sqin of port area...when i should have more like 22 (12 for ever 1 rule of thumb, though that is for slot ports, its a good idea for around 10 for every one with high excurstion drivers excluding ports that are extrmely flared like areoports)

anyway. Id i feel like im loosing loudness or an getting cancelation from the ports im going to tear htem out (fun, they are epoxied in), glass the hole shut, and use 21/2 forward firing only im going to have to sand the elbows paper thin and reenforce them a little on the inside to get the speakers to drop in.

oh well. should still be louder than sealed, though if we had gone sealed we could have done 8 and 1200w in the room we had. should still wang hard :)
