Streetbass wall build from the uk 2 BTL NEO 2 18's in a small fren

Recommended Posts

Well i am Liam from England been into car audio for 4 years now i have had the car from standard to what it looks like today all work has been done/paid for by me. The main aim for the car was a streetbasser that competes in propper droppers which is a format over here that tests how flat your system plays between 20Hz and 40Hz they test the system with the termlab on the passenger headrest and a window or door open, they test 20,25,33,40Hz and your peak then you get an average i am currently the loudest system in walled under 6,000rms.

I have had 4 walled systems in the car over the last 2 years. 6 12s flat wall, 8 budget 12s ported tunnel then replaced the budget subs with some better subs and now i have the 18s. Current aim for the car is to keep my title on propper droppers and to make a low powered 149.9 bass racer.

still got lots of things todo things todo next is flares and then im looking at upping the power time for some numbers

these number where the day after a weekend show where i had been playing with engine off so batteries where flat. did a 151.2 @ 41hz dB drag style

31hz tunning

Total average 152.5dB

peak 154.4 @ 33hz

40hz 152.5

33hz 154.4

25hz 153.5

20hz 147.7

with blockers 27hz tunning

Total average 152.6dB

peak 154 @ 33hz

40hz 151.9

33hz 154

25hz 153.5

20hz 149.8

Score from my old systems

ported tunnel tuned to 27hz with the 8 jbl gt5 12s did 150.1db @ 31hz dB drag style and the propper dropper scores where

total average = 152.1

peak 153.5 @ 32hz

40=151.5

33=152.6

25=153

20=149.9

06092010471.jpg

then upgraded to the Ground Zero RW12-AL's did 148.6 @ 31hz db drag style and the propper droppers scores where

Total average 151.4

peak 153 peak @ 27hz

40hz 151.2

33hz 152.5

25hz 151.7

20hz 148.7

Even thou ground zeros had better xmax more power handling and more of a solid cone the scores where down but to the ear it sounded alot smoother and cleaner

Subs look super sexy with the Ascendant Audio 6 Spoke baskets. Did you have to pay extra to get that basket or did they just show up that way? Nice setup by the way. :fing34:

Nice system. I bet it's loud.

Awesome scores on such low frequencies.

i got a deal on them from am at blade ice only reson i got the 6 spoke baskets was becuase i was in a rush to get them and there was a waiting list for the standerd 12 spoke

thanks dude as said above i got them like that because i was in a rush to get them dont think there is any advantage they just look sexyer only downside mounting depth is bigger

thanks it does look alot cleaner now i have made more trim panels and dont have the big yellows in there any more

Well update i have had the subs out all week and i have smoothed the inside of the box as the gloss paint wasnt as smooth as it looked, put a flare on the inside of the port, rounded off the braces and fillerd some screw holes ect. i aint re paining the box yet as the finish i have at the moment is very smooth and i didnt have time as i was working on a customers car.

well just got back from testing and its good and bad news db drag is up by 0.7db so im now doing 152.2 which should help my 149.9 bassrace but im down on propper droppers by 0.4 on peak and the other scores are down

Went out for another little test and to try out some 149.9 bassraces after playing around for a little while i found a decent track after 4 runs of the laptop crashing i got a 149.8 just need to get my start a little better so after abit of practice i got a 151 start so hoping if i get starts like that but a little less on volume i can do a 149.9 easy just no more bassrace runs with the laptop in the car as ive been told they tend to brake.

c0d78264.jpg

also got some stickers made up for the weekend they aint the final design but they will do for now

cece0fea.jpg

well it was the uk finals this weekend for EMMA and dB drag at trax was an awsome show minus the rain in the morning but got my full points on EMMA and got 2nd place was only 3 points away from project big black i really need to get the EMMA disc so i can practice on how much epic to use ect as the the track we was given sucked.

After doing EMMA i went over to the dB drag stand always good to catch up with the db dragers done my qualifier of 151.6db and won 1st place Extreme Os 1-2 then did bassrace qualifier nailed a 149.9 :D so thats one of this years goals done but as it came to the knockouts my laptop had moved my bassrace track and i had to use a random track that i hadnt practiced with and only could do a 149.6 against daz oh well next year i will learn to carry a spare usb stick.

I am just doing some tweeking to the car at the moment ready for the UK Propper Dropper finals on the 1st of october hoping to try keep my uk title but theres alot of people in the walled under 6k class this year so its going to be tough. once that has been, the car is going to be striped ready for a full rebuild for next year :clown:

Not sure when this was posted but SICK subs those have super lightweight baskets borrowed design from the TC sounds LMS Ultra series. said to be one of the cleanest "loud" subs in the world. Twizted has had that woofer and said the Dad BD series 15's sound better. but I don't know if hes sure. I know SMD likes clean bass and hes using that design, witch seems boss to me. So ya good choice! If I built my own custom woofer I would want that basket, TSNS motor, and Stitched super strong surrounds, tall fat wide, with Dual 2 ohm coils. Crescendo 2k on each coil. Direct 8 G, Cant wait to roll through the 18 pictures and vids!

Well I had the uk propper dropper finals in october I have been working on the car over the last month tweeking to get it ready i got some port blockers made up and bought a new 210amp alt had slight problem with the alt as the pully was a spaced one where as my old one wasnt but got away with spacing my crank pully out to match the new alt pully.

Well anyway i set off at 12pm yesterday picked up my mate on the way then went and seen wonky to borrow his fluke clamp to retest my amps power after having a little chat with him we headed off as it was a 2 and a haf hour drive from him to essex within ten minites of leaving him is when the bad times started was on the a roads doing 60mph around a large corna and the bonnet decided to pop up and say hello after about 3 seconds of shock and thinking wtf has just happend i managed to pull over saftly luckly i have a strong roof and the bonnet didnt dent that as that would of write off the car we managed to get the bonnet shut after alot of swearing :D i then decided that i was already 130 miles from home and that i would carry on at 45mph the final 150 miles to essex. I got hold of bt boomer(legend) and he had a spare screen for me.

I turned up at pure carma at 7:30 and got straight in the lanes to see how badly my scores where down after covering the windscreen with a sheet to stop me getting sprayed in glass i still done a 153.7dB but my low end scores where down by over 2dBs but i kept my uk title on under 6k walled so very happy about that :).

Had a few demos with the sheet still up an the windscreen got alot worse we left pure carma at 12am and got the screen fitted had to wait half an hour for it to set a little but finaly got on my way home about 1:30am about 5am i had to pull over and got an hour and half sleep then got back on the road got home at 8:45am very tiring night but well worth it to catch up with some great people.

my view for the 150 miles

600bc342.jpg

after an hour of booming

dd367df9.jpg

screen out ben wasnt to happy with the fiberglass and expanding foam that was every where :D

dd144372.jpg

people seem to notice the saxo alot more when the bonnets held on with duct tape and windscreen with gaffa :lol:

4b451063.jpg

im now on the search for another four jbl 1201 amps then i can start on the rebuild for next year hopfuly than i will be braking screens with bass not my bonnet haha

Well last event of the year and last show for the current saxo wall had a great day at bassjunkies had a nice demo of jason Ds system was very heavy amazing how loud it is for what is a no wall top work mate my system wasnt booming as much as i would of liked as my alt belt was sliping again so was booming engine off then charging as i went thru the lanes. i didnt get my 155 i was hoping for but still happy with the scores i got.

scores with port blocker only used them as one of my goals for this year was to get the system to play 150+ at all pd freqs

150 @ 20hz

153.8 @ 25hz

153.8 @33

152.3 @40

153.9 28hz peak

152.7 average

heres the scores without blockers

1: LiamB (Team Fi) - 2x 18" Fi - Ported box - 4000wrms

Total Average Score = 152.7dB

Peak = 154.4dB @ 33Hz

40Hz = 152.4dB

33Hz = 154.4dB

25Hz = 153.8dB

20Hz = 148.6dB

only thing left todo now befor i pull the build out is to get my 155

im now swaping back over to my standerd alt for the winter then going to test with the fluke 377 clamp tp see if the 14.8v 70amps is better than the 14v 250amps is better as my loudest score so far has been with the smaller alt

250 amp alt

60hz 20.8A x 53.4V = 1,110.7 rms 2.56ohm

55hz 20.6A x 54.9V = 1,130.9 rms 2.66ohm

50hz 18.6A x 58.3V = 1,084.3 rms 3.13ohm

45hz 15.9A x 59.7V = 949.2 rms 3.75ohm

40hz 15.7A x 60.3V = 946.7 rms 3.84ohm

35hz 15.8A x 59.2V = 935.3 rms 3.74ohm

33hz 16.2A x 61.2v = 991.4 rms 3.77ohm

30hz 16.2A x 59.7V = 967.1 rms 3.68ohm

25hz 19.1A x 54.3V = 1,037.1 rms 2.75ohm

vol36

20hz 12.2A x 41.0V = 500.2 rms 3.36ohm

with standerd alt

60hz 20.9A x 54.9V = 1147 rms +37 2.6ohm

55hz 20.0A x 56.1V = 1122 rms -8 2.8ohm

50hz 19.0A x 58.8V = 1117 rms +33 3.0ohm

45hz 16.3A x 61.9V = 1008 rms +60 3.7ohm

40hz 15.9A x 61.6V = 979 rms +33 3.8ohm

35hz 16.0A x 61.2V = 979 rms +44 3.8ohm

33hz 16.0A x 61.9v = 990 rms -1 3.8ohm

30hz 16.5A x 61.5V = 1014 rms +47 3.7ohm

25hz 19.3A x 56.2V = 1084 rms +47 2.9ohm

not bad for an amp thats rated at 787 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms 1114 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohm @ and my results are with voltage dropping to low 12s
