Ok, two questions about batteries and alts...

I have a 220A H/o alt for a 01 lincoln LS and I am current running just a stock battery. If I get two other batteries, even though Ive not got my amp yet, and install the alt in my car would there be any damage? Or if I hooked it up now to a stock battery would there be any damage?

and second question, I flubbed up and read the ebay post wrong and ordered 2 S3400 from XS power, I wanted D3400s, whats the difference and would I regret using the S over the D series?

You can run the alt with your stock electrical system with no problems as long as it was meant for a 12 volt system. The XS Power S series are designed for race applications whereas the D series is optimized for audio. The S3400 weighs about 3.5 lbs more than the D3400 and has just a tiny bit larger case than the D3400. As for your last question, I would contact Nathan at XS Power and ask him.

Sweet, Ill install the alt this weekend, and do the big tres... and Im not sure what the true difference is. THe S series had 2 less AH than the D series but I am almost positive that the AH are only relative if you plan on running it while its off. Other than that they have the same max amps and whatnot... I guess just hit them up. Thank you!

All of the S version of the batteries come with brass automotive terminals. All of the S versions also come with metal protective cases (EXCEPT FOR THE S3400) for added under the hood protection. The S3400 DOES NOT come with a metal protective case.

The D version batteries do not come with auto terminals, but they do come with the bolts and washer to use with ring terminals. Automotive terminals can be purchased separately (part number # 580 or 586) for these versions.

So, if you are going to use the battery under the hood I would suggest buying the S version, but if you are going to use it as a secondary battery the D version would be more economical.

Yes the batteries are basically the same. So even if you got the s version and plan to use them in the back of your vehicle, you'd just use battery post type terminals instead of ring terminals. Although for that scenario it would have made better sense to get the D version, but no worries.
