Need help on what amp i should use ?

k i picked up a set of Jl w3v2 d4 subs in a sub zero ported box with an mtx 81000d for 250 bucks

after doing some research i see these amps sometimes had alot of issues

i have a brand new power acoustik ovn1-2000 d in box / i no most are going to say junk but i have had good luck in the past with their amps

my car is an 04 cavalier stock electrical would it be better to run the new amp or old amp ?

would the newer amp be more efficient ?

IMHO I would use the MTX amp. I would imagine that most of the people who wrote saying they had problems with the amp didn't install it correctly in one way shape or form. The amp is not 1 ohm stable and I would bet that a lot of them were running it at 1 ohm anyway.

The W3's are rated for 300wrms and with D4 coils your only wiring option will be either 1 ohm or 4 ohms for the pair. Now with the PA amp you can wire it to 1 ohm but the power will be roughly double what the subs are rated and the MTX can't be run @ 1ohm. That leaves wiring them at 4 ohms with which the PA amp is rated at 600wrms and the MTX is rated at 500wrms. I would trust the MTX amp in this case long before I would the PA. I think the MTX will most likely be a little under rated in it's output while the PA is most likely over rated. Aside from that you'll likely not even hear any real difference in 100watts anyway.

but you might have to upgrade your electrical for 1200 watts, if so you could wire it to a 4 ohm load until you go the upgrades done

According to the manual on JL's website for the W3V2 (not V3) they're 300wrms. I didn't look at any other versions in the W3 series to see what they're handling was though.

the mtx doesn't have a ssf is this anything i should worry about ?

id go with the PA, it should have a ssf and it would match your rms for the subs, also its newer and im sure PA has grown a little since then

I would run the MTX, they have been building quality amplifiers for a long time.

there in a subzero elv122 box witch should be 1.5cu ft each and tuned to 34hz

and im sorry i made a mistake i just checked the ohms for each side of the box and it looks like im going to be running a 2ohm load total 4ohm each side so they must be d2's

In that case, either one would work fine, seeing as how you're going to be running the setup at a 2 ohm load. The MTX is rated at 1000w @ 2 ohms and the PA is rated @ 900w @ 2 ohms. 100 watts is not an audible difference, I'd say it's your choice whether or not to run too far above the sub's rms rating.

*EDIT: I think I was wrong. It looks like the MTX puts out 1500 watts @ 2 ohms with sufficient electrical. In that case, I'd run the PA.
