upward-firing subs in sedan trunk

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what people thought about subs facing upward in a sedan trunk. I'm planning on getting a 12" icon but I wouldn't mind having the 15". Problem is that I don't think the trunk in my 97 corolla would be tall enough having the sub standing up. It would be going in a sealed box. I feel like there would be more trunk rattle if I laid the sub down. I see videos where the sub is literally firing into the trunk from an inch away. Would lying the sub make it harder to hear in the front of the car? It seems like there would be a greater chance for cancellation or the sound waves would just get bunched up between the trunk and cone.

Separate question but i've always been curious. Does it matter if I swap the wires running from the amp into the box terminals?

Thanks that's pretty interesting. So according to these pages the best place from my current sub would be rear facing close to the trunk lid?
