New US Amps on ebay

Recommended Posts

Hi, new member here.

I'm just curious about the guy on ebay (chassis_inc) that's always selling new US Amps. Was he affiliated with the old company and/or bought the old stock or something? Are these legit old school models?

I have another question but I'll ask that at another time.

Thanks,

Kelly

I bought an amp from him and have talked to him. He states he used to work for US Amps in the past. Seems like a decent guy, just charged me $29 to ship it, then shipped the amp USPS media mail, so it took forever to get here. The amp looked great. I am not sure if its working properly. I am going to try swaping the 400x and the 600x on my mids and highs to see if it sounds right. Its easier to test an amp at higher frequencies. I guess I just expected a lot more out of the 600x then I am getting when hooked up in junction with a 400x on my components.

I've spoke with him before and he told me the same story. Either way that 4260 he had listed was a Merlin amp that sold for $249 in the late 90's. He advertises them as USA Series and 2 ohm stable which they are not. Also the board does not fit the chassis properly as shown in the pic. I've never seen a M-4260 in person so I do not know wether to believe him or if they were in fact made that was from US Amps?

hmmm maybe they ARE from milo... i was talkin to JR about the difference between the actual thing and a Milotronics amp, is that the heat sink/endcap things do not fit the amplifier correctly, the toroids are wound differently, the board is glued on with an excessive amount of glue, and the wiring he used is different than the real thing. by any chance do you have a picture?

stay away from milo amps! want to buy an overrated paper weight? he is one of the big causes why us amps got a bad rap before they got bought.

frankenstein amps, not producing claimed power, breaking and NO WARRANTY, etc.. anyone who tries to cut a corner and go cheap, you'll be taking it in the biscuit.

What is Milo?

Here's a link to the auction I was referring to. The board is short and he put a sticker in to fill the gap. In a different one he had posted you could see the US Amps logo on the board as well as a Merlin logo. Are these counterfit boards?

yia thas milo. to my understanding, he used to work for usamps back in FL and during the move to socal, he jacked a bunch of heatsinks and boards and stuffed them himself and selling them like they were the real deal, while they were actually buggy and unreliable.

they ARE the real boards, just stuffed with underpar parts and unmatching heat sinks.

I just figured out what "Stuffed them himself" truly means when speaking of him, when i researched his account while bored.

He buys used amps off eBay uses those boards under the new sinks. He uses the same account to buy as he does to sell. Doh.
