subwoofer recomandtions

Recommended Posts

I have 400$ (budget for buy a subwoofer)

ive been looking/shopping for a nice big ""SQL"" subwoofer who can sing music at low frecv. I`m interested to hit low (28-30Hz). I listen rap - dub step music, my car is 4 door hatchback. HU is alpine 9831, amplifier will be HFi2000D. I have a second batteries and 0awg cable.

Someone recommended me:

TC Sounds LMS-R 15

SSA XCON 15 or 18

FI BTL

I have not heard any version.

I`m from europe and i want to buy it from USA. I also want your recommendations to buy best solution.

Thanks.

Don't forget Acendant Audio! I just got rid of a Havoc running off a RF T1000 and people would stop me and ask "what the F--- do you have in there?!?!? Just 1 ?!?!?" But I got a SAZ3500D for the T1000 and a Punch 1000 and now I am looking for a BEAST 15" myself, something like a SMD...

Ascendent Audio Mayhem, or the XCON.

TC Sounds has moved production to China, and have done downhill quality wise. The BTL(depending on the generation) will be better suited in an SPL oriented installation, they generally peak higher.

Low frequency extension has a large part to do with your enclosure. Stay away from spl based subwoofers because they generally are built to peak high.

I know how to calculate the box will be made by me.

I'm talking about Fi btl n2.

Ascendent Audio Mayhem i found it only bladeice.com and there is 455£ :(

I will go on xcone 15. I think it's good idea. 1750w, low Fs, 31mm x max.

what's your opinion ?

thanks for answers.

Like Duran said TC has gone downhill. I would take his advice. Mayhem or Xcon. Both great subs and amazing companies.

Personally, I think the worst part of Chinese equipment is that you are sending your money to China.

I have used some of the newer TC stuff from PartsExpress. Build quality and QC seem good. Same with Tang-band, Usher, etc....

I don't think the Chinese will be on par with the higher end US manufacting though.

You need to find someone in the US military close that will be willing to order for you. Will cost you about 1/2.

SSA xcon 15':

X max: 31 mm, 1750w RMS, Fs: 31.3 Hz, SPL: 89.6 dB

Tc sounds LMS-R 15':

X max: 29.4 mm, 1000w RMS, Fs: 23.6 Hz, SPL: 86.9 dB

I like both, but i have to decide. TC was 1000w rms, fs 23,6hz and SSA is 1750w rms, fs 31.3Hz.

Why Tc sound, why SSA ? who is the best for ""SQL"". please help

thanks for answers.

From Europe ? save some more money. $400 will not be enough with the shipping costs.

The Xcon will fit your needs, but a btl too, even a Fi bl will.

The box(tuning and net volume) is the most important part to make the sub hits the lowest notes.

Not much recommendations for TC sounds!! I don't know nothing about them !

The Xcons are fantastic !!! Can't compare to a 1000 w rms driver.

I had one 15" and loved it.

I run a btl 12" now because of restricted space, but it sounds good and I can give him much more power !

i want to buy dual 2 ohm subwoofer and use it at 1 ohm.

I would run the sub at 2ohms not as hard on the amp or speaker unless setup properly. If you do go 1ohm I wouldnt run over the 1750rms power rating of the sub.

i decide to buy ssa xcon with 2x2ohm(connect at 1ohm), and hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D or BRZ2400.1D. I thought that more power (2100-2400) means clean signal at 1000-1500 for daily. not true? Or is to much power ?

It was run with two stock batteries 2x66Ah, stock alternator 85Ah, 0awg cable, and i can connect anytime a second HO, but still 85ah or something like that. I intend in the future a deep cycle battery

Amplifier is a good choice? or something with less power ?

thanks

You will have less distortion running 1500rms at 2ohms and the amp will run cooler. Stay away from 1ohm unless you are going to run a sundown, audioque, crescendo or incriminator audio amps. 1ohm just makes them run to hot. :ughdunno:

The LMS will play lower then the xcon in perfect conditions, but it will handle less power.
