H.O Alternator help!!

Recommended Posts

ok guys so i came across an alt on ebay and its pretty and i was wondering if you guys could take a look at it and let me know what you guys think because i just dont have the funds right now to buy a dc as much as i want too. Iv been told that some people just take alt's from other vehicles and whind the crap out of them to make them produce more power but im not too sure about that. i really need a new alt because my civic only has a little 70a alt which prob wouldnt handle a 4channel amp lol. ok so here is the ebay link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HIGH-OUTPUT-ALTERNATOR-HONDA-CIVIC-01-02-03-04-05-160A-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1e635e83bcQQitemZ130516157372QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Any input about it would be greatfully appreciate because i know most of you know what your talking about, or if you guys have any suggestions on a decent alt but for cheap. my budget is no more then 250$ and the alt has to be anywhere from 140a-180a or close. Hope to hear from some knowledgable people and thank you ahead of time :)

Why is this in the Fi section?

SAVE UP YOUR MONEY. Turn the system down until you can get your electrical up.

1, They don't even say what idle output is or what rpm idle is.

2, I have bought their alternator before thinking the same as you before I knew about DC Power ;). It was complete shit. It did less than 30 amps at my REAL idle. I was getting dimming with my stereo off.

yea but your car is different..

Check and see if the OP's car is fully computer controlled.

Phi's car typically idles and at low rpms around 13.0v

so you bought from them before? they do have a great feedback score though out of 10k reviews. i dont see how it could be any worse then what i have now though. its just 400$ is ALOT of money right now and i have a part time job with a car payment lol. If only i was rich uhhgg hehe... any donations? hahaha just playin but if thats really true then i may just be waiting a couple months before i even hook anything up in my car, sad cuz i just had bought my fi sub lol

They are rewound. I brought the alt I bought from them to a referred alt shop and they said it was just rewound.

I don't get dimming just sitting there lol.

well my plan for my electrical is doing the big 3 tomarrow with 0 gauge knuconcektz then replacing the stock battery with a kinetik hc1400 and then a ho alt which im thinking should be plenty for 1200rms for sub and 400rms from 4ch. or i was thinking of leaving the stock battery under hood and putting the hc1400 in the trunk, either way im thinking would be enough cuz its no more then 2k watts

Add the hc1400, don't replace. get a solenoid to separate the rear battery from the front. And your sig says AQ2200d not 1200. If its a AQ1200d, you may be alright with just the two batteries and stock alt. See how it goes with just that first then get alternator. Don't get something before you even know if you need it or not.

yea thats what i was thinking but i didnt know if the 70a stock alt would keep both charged with a aq2200 and a 400rms 4ch, and yes it is a aq2200 but i will have it wired to 2 ohms not 1 ohm so its pretty much drawing just as much as a aq1200 would, i got the aq2200 so incase i ever wanted to upgrade to the btl i could keep same amp. so do you think with the kinetik in trunk with isolator and stock battery that my alt will keep them charged cuz i mostly drive at night delivering pizzas with my light on.

so would a 70a alt keep both stock and hc1400 charged with sub hooked up and most likely lights on cuz i drive more at night, that is if i keep the sub at low gain, also would i be able to hook up my 4ch alpine amp also cuz the stock door speakers they have in the car are complete junk, im thinking either one or the other either hook up my door speakers and amp or hook up my sub and amp until i get bigger alt? but will my 70a alt do ok keeping the battery charged

I'm not a professional with this stuff, so I don't want to give you any info on things that I'm not certain of. However, you would probably get much better results if you posted in the "Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical" section of the site. I believe more people cycle through there than the Fi section.

Good luck :fing34:
