Having a problem porting my box

Recommended Posts

I used to drive a chevy silverado, and now I'm driving a pontiac grand prix gtp. in the chevy ontop of the back seat, i had 3 memphis 12's in a ported box tuned around 40 hz. now i'm trying to figure out a box that can fit in the trunk to have the 3 subs ported a little lower, probably around 30. the problem isnt so much that i don't have enough trunk space, but the opening when the trunk's open is EXTREEMLY too small to fit a 6 cu. ft. box ported, so now i need help as to putting them all in.... my first guess would be to build three seperate boxes and put them in that way and maybe bolt them all together or something, but has anyone dealt with grand prixs and have a better solution? 'cause i'm not sure that my option is the best. If you have some opinions, i'd appreciate the feedback.

You could either do that, or build in the trunk. I don't know any other options you have. I know exactly what you're talking about as well. I had enough problems trying to fit a 3 cube sealed enclosure in my buddy's 99.

yea, i understand, but how would I nail the box together? that seems like the hardest part, unless i would just naill from the inside

yea I'd do the three seperate boxes, and then nail together before mounting the subs.

right... yea i figured that'd be the easiest way to go, but it still might be a space issue, so i was thinking about "aiming" the subs upward toward the trunk... would that be a problem? because if not i'd have to put the speakers more towards the middle of the trunk, taking away both access to the spare and the actual trunk itself (by the way, i'm running 3 memphis power reference 12's).
