What teams do you belong to? What does being on a team mean to you? What do you do to help out your team and what does the team do to help you out? Does your team go out of its way to help others and/or the industry?

I belong to Team Gates, True Audio Competition Team, Team Smoke.

Being on Team Gates is like being on Team world i would say, where we are all together in the big cause, trying to support the industry as well as bring more people into the sport all the time. It is the loudest team in the world, and the largest as well. To me to be a part of Team Gates was a personal accomplishment, since i have been in car audio for 13 years, and seen with my own eyes the accomplishments of what Team Gates has done since their beginning. I dont think there is another Team out there that has done more to either improve or change the industry as Team Gates has done. Besides, how many times have you had someone call you up and say they were building a system to try and top your accomplishments? With Alma being the driving force behind Team Gates, she has shown that its not just a guy sport, that you can have fun in the sport, and pushing the envelope is a good thing :)

True Audio is a local retailer, and a great bunch of friends. I work on my installs there, i help other team members with their installs, and for the most part, travel with all the team members to shows and do our best at taking home all the trophies from each event. The only time i miss team shows is when i have to travel to Illinois for meca events. True Audio has done alot to improve the industry, by having spl clinics, judges trainings, competition clinics, etc. We do these things to get new people involved into the sport, then get them to understand what is happening with the sport, and to keep em into the sport. We dont want to turn on a new guy to the sport and have him wondering why his daily driver setup just got beat by a seasoned competitor, so we do our best to help them understand what happens in the lanes and why. With a few usaci world finals championships, usaci retail member of the year award, and the only competition team in history to do a clean sweep of every 1st place trophy at a single event, I think we have what it takes to be a recognizeable force in the industry. All that from a little town in South Dakota, odd, huh :) We do all kinds of charity drives at our own Usaci shows, have lots of fun and do our best at helping others out in the lanes. I can name a few times i helped others gain atleast 3 db by just adding a sigle board to their setup at a show.

Team Smoke is a meca team, one i joined in 2004 since the fall of my past affiliation with Team Artistic Sound, which all members split looking for other paths in car audio. most , like me, did not feel that our team was heading in the right direction so most of us left in search of new teams. Team Smoke is not the loudest team in the world, not the prettiest, nor the most wins, but we all agree on one thing, Its pretty fun to smoke our equipment once in awhile. While their are some pretty dominant members on our team, you will see our team has some of the most informed people around, where they have either worked on the inside of the industry, continue to work on the inside, or just have more than a clue than woofer+amp=boom.

I am hoping that Orion can get a Team going this year, for i would love to be a part of this team. Anyone who has been at the shows where i have been know i have gone out of my way to show off my setup, where my spl ride has a very nice touch of sq. I think i have had probably over 300 people in my vehicle last year listening to the new Orion gear, done atleast 20 hair videos, and convinced well over a 100 people that the new Orion gear is right for them. I am trying to see if we can rally the troops up for something like Team Orion, will know more later about this. For me being a part of any team, I am just like their slogan for the new Orion lineup, POWERED BY HARDCORE ATTITUDE! I think competition for me starts with every turn of my key.

you can start a team by just making one up and hopefully having other people join with with ya. to join, you can contact the team directly and see what requirements they might have for their team, and they can let you know what their requirements are.

great topic shane,

I am going to join team gates this season, but not sure if I can compete this year, I have been a part of a few smaller teams, I am sorta on TeamCarAudio.com

but I threw out the idea a while back about starting Team SSAudio if people want to pursue it, we can get the stickers and if you want me to run it I am game, just a thought, but I would love to compete for Team Orion,

I would love to be a part of Team SSaudio.com. That would be sweet.

I'm not on a particular team as of yet. Im hoping within the year, i'll be able to jump onto a team. I am particularly looking at Team B.I.O(Bring It On). They are a Nor-Cal team. Basically every comp they have gone to, they have won. I am friends with one of the big dogs on there team, recent published in the Feb issue of CA&E, Steve Meade. He and I are going to be building a pretty loud system. But anyways, they are really cool people. Steve, not knowing who i was at the beginning, invited me over to his house to meter my system. From then on there, we've be friends. I went to a comp with him, and where i placed 3rd and he placed 1st in our division. Over all they are a bunch of cool guys, who like to help out other people no matter what there running, they just like to help people out.

Shane, this is really a good topic. I think most of us want to belong to a team of some sort.

That was one of the reasons I opened Team Gates for membership. We all want to belong to something and many of us will never be able to be members of teams such as KCG, RF, MTX, ID, etc. They are great teams but very limited on membership and require certain products be used in competition. Team Gates is not an organized team as such and do not require our members to compete or use certain products. We are more about sportsmanship, promoting the industry and having a good time. Team Gates members are ambassadors to Team Gates and the industry.

At this time, we have over 400 members worldwide and we are growing. Who would have ever thought? Surely not me! :D

I have recently become a member of Team JBL. This is actually the first time I have been actively involved with a competition team and it's a new experience for me. JBL is working to develop a competition team of about 25 members who will compete in Sound Quality and SPL within the different organizations. Our team is lead by Gary Biggs and Mark Eldridge. Of course, Team JBL members are required to use JBL products..so there are limitations here also.

It's exciting to be involved in the development of a new team from the ground up.

A bunch of local teams here. Nothing major yet, though would love too be one day. Main reason is ... lack of competitions here ... nothing within a 6 hour drive, and even then there's maybe 2-3 a year, if that. We have our own meter, so little unsanctioned events are held once in a while. Free of charge, just to spread the word. I paid for the meter ... no one should have to pay me to use it.

Being on a team means a lot to the group of guys here. A good group of guys with similar interests who have come together to achieve similar goals. Everyone helps each other out ... system related, financially, whatever.

We're more than glad to help other teams when we attend shows and meet up with other groups. As for helping the 'industry', sure ... we're not idiots in residential neighbourhoods. While we spread the word about mobile electronics, we always mention not to be a complete idiot when you do have a stereo. Since we're so small and from the middle of nowhere (isanctioned events wise), all we can do to support the industry right now is to be loyal to our brands and purchase, purchase, purchase :)

Team Superior Sound Fresno, CA

We are a 7 memeber Team Strong Led by Me and my shop(superior sound). Basically I am the only true hardcore spler. We have another guy who we help out alot and is on our team but we cant stray him from audiobahn. He holds his own though. Then we have a couple guys that are 20hz wonders one doing 149.8 at 33hz and the other doing a 151 @ 37hz. Great stuff. We also have some SQ guys as well. one of them being my boss with a full focal system in his 03 civic hatch. no amps no eq just a clarion deck speakers and lots of deadeing this car will blow you away. We also have an ex-Iasca Judge running a full focal system with all pg TI amps getting switched out to Audison amps and sub will soon be XXX 10"

To me its comadery and Strength in numbers. I like to be able to pull up to a show and people see our cars roleing in a line because we always do and have them say look superior sound is here.

if you have to pay just to join, you better rethink it thru. some teams will have tshirts made and it will cost ya to get a shirt or what not, like a group buy but thats all the prices you should have to pay unless you got a group project.

IF we do it.... should we limit some things....? Like u have to picked to get on the team. You cant just sign up and say your part of the SSaudio.com Team. I think there should be some things that we require for people to join up.

I would have maybe have 15-20 spots avaible at 1st.

Then i would say all the Mod's are entitled to being on the SSaudio.com Team, if they feel like it having there chance 1st. Then after the Mods have entered, fill in the remaining spots with other people off of the board. Then maybe every month or every other month update the members or add a few people here and there.

Maybe a requirement to stay on the team is to go to at least a comp a month, and hope to place, or something.

I'm just throwing ideas out there, so what u guys think.

not bad ideas, but alot of us are from the west coast, and we get NO events lol. at most we get maybe 2 a year within about 600 miles. I dont think its fair to say you have to go to x amount of shows. maybe we should have 2 parts to the team, a competing part and a part for people who just love this stuff.
