SA12 Enclosure

Recommended Posts

So I am going the way of Sundown for a single 12 in my Honda Fit. However my skills as far as enclosure design for ported are poop. My maximum external dimensions are 38"Wx18"Dx21"H, I would like to keep the enclosure as small as possible on the Width side, my current dual 10 ported box is 27"W. I also would like to shoot for 2 cuft after displacement, tuned at 30-33Hz. I have all the tools/skills to build the box just lack the mathematical skills to actually calculate it up (yeah sad i know). Anyway if anyone would be kind enough to simply do me up a box and post a pic/diagram so I can have a cut sheet I would be very grateful. I should have a SA12 D4 in the next month and I would like to have this built and carpeted prior to getting the sub, as long as I can get the cut out diameter of the SA12 D4.

thanks

ya i don't think to many people would like to do a design for you unless you pay them lol! if you want to spend 10$ for the proper box talk to ram_design on this forum or pop over to his site and go from there!

also have you heard of the RE Calc off hand?

http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html

people say it isn't 100% perfect but it gets the job done!

hey i just noticed your signature:

2002 Loudest FL Street 1-2 153.1 db Certified | 2002 FL Points Champion Street 1-2 | 2002 FL State Record Holder

2002 World Finalist

so if you can do all these things why are you asking for help?

Sad that in this day and age of Car Audio people charge for simple help. Heck when I was full blown azzholez to elbowz competing I would help a total stranger rewire an entire car or more just simply to help someone. No worries if I have to pay someone for something I will just go find someone local to build the damn thing. Unemployment is a bitch and I am trying to sell things just to pay for the new sub, so yes as stupid as it may sound $10 to me matters right now. I have looked at the RE calc and again my stupidness in the math department prevents me from understanding it properly but thanks.

*Edit*How did I do all those things? Simple 2 12s, 1 big amp, 1 CRX and a simple box 29x29x14 with 4 - 4" aero ports 12" long, burping at 48Hz like a champ!

Check out my signature. If you like the design I still have the measurements. ;)

The external dimensions of the box are 30 x 16 1/2 x 14 1/2 BUT that is if you go with one layer.

I feel your pain on paying for a design. Tho for me it's that 10$ are not the same as for you(different country, different economy). Good thing is I found a guy who was doing them for free.

Already built the box, so here is what I made, granted its NOT PERFECT, hell it's been over 8 years since I have built a box but it came out pretty good for me never ever building something like this before.

Leaving the top off till my SA12D4 gets here which should be Wednesday or Thursday. Will be running my JBL amp at 2ohm mono rated at 1150 watts in 2ohm. Cannot wait to hear this thing! :rofl2::rofl2:

Well it's all done, got everything setup and just need to work out some time to do testing and what not. Sounds much better than my previous subs, and louder, expect it to get better as the sub breaks in. Carpet comes in Monday, so it will be all nice and clean matched up then.

Did a little testing and found placing the sub pointed up yielded a better response, also got the carpet in so I carpeted the box, bottom board and the supports that hold it in place.

Overall very happy with the results, more bass, more lower end bass, LOTS more SPL and I saved room in the hatch.
