Amp for (2) sundown sa-8 dvc 4's

Recommended Posts

i am building a setup for listening only, no competitions or anything, running (2) sa-8 dvc 4's, i was originally thinking of a sundown 1000d, which i felt was enough, but everyone i see with sa-8's is running either a 1200d or 1500d, is it safe to run these larger amps for daily abuse on the subs or is the 1000d going to be enough, thanks for your advice

I would think for daily the 1000 or the 1200 should be fine. I have my 2 SA-8's on a 1200d because that is what I had sitting here when I did the install.

If you are looking for somewhere for a deal on these, check Dbr for some refurbs. They have a 1200d and a 1000 in stock. I have dealt with them and they are great.

Something else to think about...the 1000 or 1200 should work fine on stock electrical as long as you have a good bat and Big3. Helps keep things simple.

I originally purchased the box and subs from a member here on the forum. This should be the link to the box build.

Box and subs are now in this build.

I am guestimating this enclosure at 1.5 net volume with a 3" x 10" port tuned at 32Hz.

Here is info on the BIG 3
