burnt negitive leads

Recommended Posts

so my sa 8 stopped working last week when i pulled it out i thought it had burnt both positve and negitive leads. after i got back from a lil easter trip i was looking closer and it's only the negtive side and its up by the coil. then i found that the nut on the push terminal was backed almost all the way off. Is this something that would be under warranty or should i spend the shipping money on a recone. The sub is less than 3 wks old on a punch 6oo gain at 65% and i was still tring to break it in.

and how much power were you tossing this sub? what number were you trying to get on the dmm when you were tuning your gains? also what coil config do you have?

If they were bought brand new they should be under warranty. But burnt leads and coils are not covered.

What size enclosure were they in? What kind of power?

burned leads are almost always due to over powering, good luck if this is your first sundown woofer please dont let it salt you.. they are amazing woofers.

i cant get the pics up. i had it powered buy a punch 600. its a d4 down to 2 ohm and i had the gain a little over half no bass boost or anything. the box is around .75 cf tuned around 35 hrtz. i dont think i had it over powered . specs on the punch are 200 rms @ 2 ohm
