Tuning 2 18" Fi BTL's

Recommended Posts

I am currently building a new setup and I am torn on how to tune my box. I will be running 2 18" Fi BTL N2's, 2 Hifonics 2600.10's, and 4 XS D2400's. I am posting to get feedback on which setup would be best, going with a spl setup and tune my box around 32-35 Hz, or go with a wave setup and tune my box around 25-28 Hz.?

Feedback and oppinions are needed thanks. :)

A 32 Hz tune is not really for spl ! go over 35 if you want pure spl numberz !

Not a lot of songs play under 30 Hz ; but 25 Hz ?!!!:WTFBubble: It must be something special !!!

Just my 2 cts !

I agree not alot of songs play under 30 but the select few that do are amazing with a setup tuned to pick them up. I have a buddy with 2 12" orion hcca's with a box tuned to 24 Hz and he just moves massive amounts air. Granted he doesnt meter as well but he does flex alot of panels. I guess i am just trying to decide what i want.

Perhaps interchange ports?

What if the car is odd and peaks at 30Hz?

It is an '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think it peaks around 37Hz.

^This, then you don't have to waste time and materials to test out box tunings. but definitely tune to 35 hz or higher for SPL. I run my 18" BTL N2 @ 32 hz, sounds great.

I am kind of leaning towards tuning it really low but my main concern is hurting the subs. I dont want to tune it to low for the subs. Do you think i will hurt them playing as low as 23,24Hz?

You could do 6" aeroports...do four for spl and plug one for daily. With a 10ft^3 box you can do a 35hz tune with four and a 30hz tune when plugging one.

My 32hz, plays really low, I would say it plays moer lows than the highs, hope that helps.
