Car shipping

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I've been looking for a reputable and reliable car shipping company, I need to get my car from Kansas city mo to Wichita falls Tx which is only like 8 or so hours away.. The reason I need it my parents moved to Florida so I no longer have a way of getting home from the airport when I fly home since my base is about 3 hours from home.

Any suggestions of companies that are reputable and fairly priced?

My car is a 2011 mustang if that helps any

Thanks guys!

Ps military discounts are welcomed :D

ii'd call a few of the ebay recommended companies near you, although paying a buddy maybe better as it will be about 800 bucks

I agree, see if you can find a buddy, or a friend of a friend perhaps, who has a car trailer and is trustworthy. It will be much cheaper than hiring some company to do it.

Or someone who can drive it down and bus it back, etc.

I looked into DAS a shipping company and it'd only be about 600$ which isn't too bad..

Is the car not drivable? Why not just go there and drive it home? Sorry if I have missed something.

Indeed the car is drivable, I'd have no way of going to Missouri from texas to pick it up.. My parents moved to FL so they couldn't bring it down, and I don't trust my friends to drive it down. I'm still In tech school and I have an 8 hour limit to how far I can drive... From here to KC MO It's about 9-10 hours. So basically this is my only option..

9-10 hours is cake, on top of that you can just drive faster and do it in 8.

Julian do you not get 3 day passes in tech school or a milage pass?

Hell if you get sat and sun off and are allowed to be off until sunday night find out when ur leaving saturday morning (or friday night for that matter) hop a flight or car ride to MO, get car and come back.

Its not right, its not proper, but you gotta do what u gotta do.

Hell I was in augusta and we went to tampa, birmingham and a few other cities every weekend when we were not suposed to be over 150 miles out.

Just ask urself, is the juice worth the squeeze?

You stationed a Sheppard AFB ??? What is your AFSC ???

Julian ... Is there any way your parents / friends / someone take your car to the nearest military base for storage, might be a little expensive, but you shouldn't be at Sheppard for too long ...

Talk to your training instructor and tell him your situation, and He should get you in touch with the correct department that can contact the nearest base Closest to your home or recruiter for your personal belongings and transportation storage and/or shipment ...

All military databases are linked together ... shouldn't be no problem ... :drink40:

Then the military will ship / transport all your belongings (should be includeing transportation) to the next duty station ... or atleast foot the bill ...

If He is at Sheppard (Tech School), He doesn't get to pull hops until stationed on a "Working" base ...

With the class schedules, there are no such thing as a 3 working day pass ... unless scheduled by red cross or something to that affect ...

Then again, these rules may have changed since I was discharged from the Air Force ... :drink40:

Well if they work like the AF guys do at Sam Houston they get Sat and Sun off free and clear.

With an 8 hr limit away, just drive faster and make it 8 hrs.

:)

They use to develop liberty in phases ... Depending the phase he is in, he may be stuck there until phase 3 or 4.

You can't do much of nothing during phase 1 or 2 (noob stages) normally referred to as a FNG ... :drink40:

There again, I was there in the early 90s ... could be all different now, but I doubt it ...

Considering how the Army has changed, I am certain the Air Force has as well. He already said he can leave and go 8 hrs away.

Driving back is the easy part. Getting there is the problem ... Sheppard is a training base, no military hops to or from there (I know this because my Cable tv night shift partner is the first sargent at the guard base here) His squadron flies the C17s everywhere and he had to take a commercial flight there for training... This is why I suggested the storage at the closest bast where the car is. Fairly expensive to put the car into military storage but safe. and alot less expensive to transport it there when he's only going to be there at the most 3 months ...

I had to have my truck shipped to England ... and back. Military picked up the truck from Dad's house and dropped it off at the nearest port in Ipswitch England. But they will only pick up the tab (if I remember correctly) if he is changing duty stations ...

Then again, This is/was how it was done for me. I am only offering a suggestion here ... thanks, Randal

It should be no sweat to make it in 8 hours. I'm right in the middle being just outside OKC, I could maybe give you a ride? It's been a while since I went on a road trip, might be nice.
