Yeah sorry i wasn't really thinking about how much power you wanted. Strapping a couple of AQ 2200's would be a good option.

I'd follow the Hlcd route if you want you bass to chase your front stage. LOL... Def with the right processing setup that would probably sound amazing.

Im seriously considering this. and I could get a smaller amp due to less speakers, sounds like a winner to me! now I just need brand suggestions and I should have the sounds stage down so i can figure out my processing..

ehhh, IDK about AQ amps. I have no experience with them and I really wanted one bigger amp vs two smaller ones. Maybe I'm asking for something that doesn't exist

Plus the 2 in the rear? :) You could have to speakers in the rear as well if you wanted rear's to fill the Surround.. Idk sometimes I feel weird when there is only front speakers ( I have no rear speakers atm ) It has a strange sound like its only on one side of you or something.

When Impious gets back on I want to hear what he has to say about the HLCD and 10". My short amount of research that I've done on setups like that so far, seems promising.

You could run a single AQ3500 at .5 ohm.

You really don't know what you are talking about, do you?

I once had some one in my van for a small SQ demo, they told me my REAR speakers were to loud...... I have none. It's all about how the front's are mounted/processed.

I understand you probably don't see my side as you seem to be very well educated on the higher end S.Q. side of things.

There is this huge misconception that the only way to achieve "loud" is to completely ignore basic acoustic principles. To the contrary, following sound acoustic principles is the most effective means of achieving your goals. To put it into perspective.....the winningest (and most infamous) vehicle in SQ competition history consisted of a speaker system that would put almost all of these SPL vehicles to shame in terms of output capabilities (for the front stage, obviously the sub stage would be louder in the SPL vehicles).

Speakerworks GN?

Jacobs is gonna hook me up with a second 2000D! so I think I'm good there. then I was planning on running his SAX125.2 on the HLCD's an a set of efficient 10's in the door. Just ogtta figure out the processing needed to do something like that.

HLCD under the dash and a high efficiency 10" mid per door (or kickpanel). Done. You would have to worry more about hearing damage from the front stage than the substage, as the front stage would literally be capable of deafening you if you allowed it to play at it's full potential.

Your referring to the Speakerworks GN ?? The one with 12s in the rear quarter pannels ??

That car had rears ...

I really am thinking im going to take Impious' advice. I was thinking about using those new 10" Sundown Audio mids that are on pre-order now. keep the same Sundown theme going..

All i am saying is that the car that brad used as an example is kinda like the Linear Power Bread Truck ... A "One of a Kind" machine ...

It is Almost impossible (without spending a butt load of money) for a Daily driver vehicle that can be built to sound like that car ... Back in the early 90s, that car's system was $100,000.00 or better ...

I'm not going against Brad or Sean anymore, all I'm saying is that if you are going that route, you got your work cut out for ya ... :drink40:

Do you ever actually post any information? Or just the popcorn guy and arbitrary statements.

ANYTHING loud will be a lot of work. First step on the horns is to see if you have the space. No harder than building kickpods, just a different installation required. As for the 10's, you could also use 8's or something else highly efficient but that will depend on your mounting space. Obviously it will be easier to mount a single pair of drivers than three in one door anyways. The only extra work will be some eq work to tame the horns, but that is really simple as compared to trying to make a big pile of tweeters and mids sound good. Just have to cut out the anomalies which is really not all that hard.

Not sure how you think its a butt load of money either. Should actually be less than his original idea.

But I guess we shouldn't be surprised when you are still stuck running a late 80's fad of Isobaric drivers, but have no idea why other than you know the guy who designed them.

Well there you go ... simple ...

M5///, you think your car is better than mine, why don't you compete against me at USACI world Finals this year ??

I'd probably win which would be funny considering I have the stock HK system in my ML63 and NOTHING extra.

You should really stop e-gurgitating the crap you read from your e-boner friends. It just makes you look thick headed. The Blues stuff is 80's technology that is absolutely NOTHING special. For 20% of the money you can buy better drivers from PE, and there are plenty of options. Why don't you actually try reading something for once instead of having someone else design your stuff and then perhaps you'll actually have a comment worth posting instead of just putting the popcorn guy in every thread.

And as stated, simple is relative and you need to compare to what the OP was going to do. So yes, can be, not sure why you don't get that.

so now as far as an EQ goes, would I rather have something like a trunk mounted version with lots of processing bands? or just something simple like the in-dash version four.1 from audiocontrol? How much processing would be needed to tame the horns? I dont think I'll have an issue with the install as the doors are very deep and very wide. same goes for under my dash. there is alot of room on both the passenger side and drivers side.

P.S. I would still like some brand recommendations for the HLCD

thanks!

I prefer something digital that you can control from up front as it makes adjustments easier.

Image Dynamics makes car specific horns ;)

Sort of out of business. Recently closed the doors due to an owner dispute.

H701, MS8, 360.3 and the list goes on.
