2ohm load amp

Recommended Posts

Most amps, class D inclusive, are not most efficient at the lowest rated impedance... In fact, they usually takes a dump at efficiency on the bottom of load tolerance... And dampening goes to hell....

Do you think you will be able to hear something different from your sub from playing at 1 Ohm or at 4 Ohms ?

I am not so sure about it.

I was afraid to play at 1 ohm, but from my saz 1000 to my saz 1500, I had absolutely no problems. I've just upgraded the grounds on the front battery and on the engine block later.

I'm planning to get a 2500 watts amp as soon as I can for my system, and still at 1 Ohm !!!

No not that it will sound different but it sure will be a lot easier on the electrical. The Sundown Audio amplifiers are at 86% efficient at a 4 ohm load. Which if I'm understanding this right , will requires or consume less energy to.make energy. Right?

It is something I have considered but haven't seen a huge market for at this time since we offer multiple coil configurations people can get the power they need @ 1 ohm.

My problem is i have 2 subs with quad 1 ohm coils. So is it more exspensive to make one run at 2 ohm.

I think the problem is having quad 1 ohm coils. There's no reason to have a quad coil sub unless you plan on running 8 amps to it.

Have you tested efficiency at different loads before? I've tested Class D's that are more efficient at lower impedance than higher, until below rated, then it just goes to hell. It's all subject to the components used.

Well they don't make the sub that i wanted with any other coil options so thats what i had to go with.

What subs are they?

I would like to see a small Class D with 4ohm ratings instead of 1ohm.

Jake, have you ever thought of doing a regulated 1000watt amp. Does 1000rms 1-4ohms? I know the market is kinda niche, but from a dealer stand point, it would be quiet amazing.

I hated having to match subs and amps together on a limited number of voicecoil options. (We did stock a ton of vc configurations).

Assuming price could be affordable, its something I might would look into for future. Or at least 2ohms and 1ohm same ratings. Then both dual 4 and dual 2 will work on the amp.
